Oooohhh.....love it.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous car. You lucky boy!!! When do you pick her up?
Thanks Greg! What a gorgeous, gorgeous car. You lucky boy!!! When do you pick her up?
Picking her up. This is the worst part...
I'm actually working in Russia at the moment and won't be back in the UK until December, hence the reason the car is going into storage until I can come back and play with it!
One of the drawbacks of my job unfortunately. The wait is going to be pretty unbearable, especially as my run about here is a funky little 1.2 litre Skoda Fabia!
However, as soon as we have a dry sunny day, the roof will be off and I will have the top down!
I really can't express quite how excited I am. It is the first really nice car I have ever bought, and I am looking forward to just touching and smelling it (does that sound odd?). It won't get used a huge amount but she will be pampered!
Its quite a car to start off your convertible ownership. My first convertible was a Triumph Spitfire, which was fun, but in a slighlty different way to the SL

Well if you need anyone to give her a run every now and then to make sure nothing seizes up, then I'm sure there will be a small queue of volunteers

I've got to admit that I've never really considered a convertible until I saw one of these. A friend of mine had an Astra convertible when was at uni, that is really the only time I've ever been in one!

Great work Bob. Will have to arrange a meet up, I'm in the Midlands. Would love to see how it compares to my lowly '500!!
I wondered why it was going in to a Carcoon. You've just answered that!
That would be great, I plan to enjoy the new beasty as much as I can when I'm back! I'll be in the Midlands as well before Christmas. It would be really nice to meet you and have a look round your 500 (lets's be honest, it's definitely not 'lowly'!).I wondered why it was going in to a Carcoon. You've just answered that!

Congratulations on your fantastic purchase. If you get as much enjoyment as I get from my 500 you will be happy. With your new pride and joy you should be something considerably more than any adjective I can think of. Well done.
Cheers Peter. I emailed some pictures of it over to the family at home and they think it's great! As soon as I get home and pick it up I will post up some better pics. Thanks again for your kind words.

Well, after much deliberation and discussion with the OH and dealer. I've thrown caution to the wind and bought the blue SL60.
I know I'm mad, but we only live once so sod it!
The car is being given a once over and being fully detailed, then it is going into a carcoon, hooked up to an optimate and being looked after until I get back home again.
I have to admit that I haven't actually been this excited about buying a car in a long time.
Thankyou all for the information and advice you have given me, I really appreciate it.
Congratulations on your 60. I've had a 500 and still have a 60. They are both fabulous cars but the 60 is truly exceptional. I've had my 60 for a bit over three years now and it still puts a huge smile on my face every tiime I drive it. Have a great time with yours.I know I'm mad, but we only live once so sod it!

It's good to hear from another 60 owner. It's nice to hear people speaking so highly of the car.
I can't wait to get out in mine, I'm counting down the days until I get home again!
wonder what a new interior would cost ext. colour i quite like...
