I have a 2002 SLK that is generally pretty tidy, but could do with some interior trim refurbishment.

First off the driver's seat side bolster needs to be repaired/replaced; that's not really a problem and I've got a trimmer lined up to do that.

The other things that are looking a bit tatty are the door pulls. These are two part affairs - the inner halves seem to be OK, (or at least if they aren't it isn't obvious), but the outer halves are worn and are suffering from what looks like missing paint. Given that they are self coloured plastic parts I can't see how they would have been painted, but anyway. Obviously I could just buy some new handles, but they are a ridiculous price from MB.

Can anyone tell me how the bits could be restored without spending a fortune?

The plastic is painted yes. What colour do you have?

I have some paint and dulling agent which can be applied with a brush or even air brushed and it sorts the problem out fine. Mine is the dark charcoal colour.

I got my paint from Australia through oberoi from the thread (very nice of him)

Thanks SLacKer. That thread is going to take some reading through! Mine is a really unusual colour scheme - Iridium Silver with an anthracite interior biggrin Now I know what I need to get hold of, I'll get cracking.

I just used http://mb.neoriginal.ru/ and it comes up with interior colour 881A which I think is anthracite.

SLacKer, I ordered the paint from Vipond's in Oz last week. Turned up in the post this morning. Really excellent service from them. On to stripping the trim out................

Great stuff.

It does the trick but you may need to experiment with the dulling agent to get an exact match. A lot better then black showing through though.
