As mentioned above from the majority of posts stay well away my dad used this company on his xj for a couple of years, every time he tried to make a claim they wormed they way out with the old wear and tear theory, stay away and stick the money you was going to spend on the warranty aside for any issues.

That doesn't make any sense, because warranty direct DO cover for wear and tear. They just ask you to contribute a proportion to make up for the fact that you're getting and old part replaced with a brand new one, rather than an old but working one.

Warrenty Direct! save your money dont bother. Bought a 3 yr old pug 3008 with 37k miles on, faulty gearbox after 3 months of ownership and only 3k miles travelled, dealer said it had a 12 mth mot, W.D. said it didnt, had to pay £2000 to get my car back, would either listen to me, NO. Is there any give or take NO. And as for the ware and tear guarantee, its a joke. Put 50 quid a month away to cover costs, and it yours to spend where you like.

Don't understand what you are saying there?

You saying the dealer hadn't MOT'd it?

I am on my second SL 55 this one is a 2005 model and I have owned it for four years with only routine maintainance having been nesassary.my first one which was a 2002 model was a dog and cost a fortune however when it ran it was superb, hence buying another one.
Having read about the potential ABC suspension problems on this forum,I decided to obtain a quote from WD the problem was that having read the small print ,I established that the suspension wasn't covered by the warranty ,when their salesman followed up the quote,I said to him that all I was interested was covering the suspension i ,he said to me that it was a known issue which is why it wasn't covered!
I hope my experience helps! By the way my SL55 has done 50k with no problems whatsoever.

This is more a general comment than specifically WD, but in my experience and those of friends, one of the popular cop-outs with warranty providers is around definitions of failure - example, 7-Series BMW with an alternator whose bearings were so done for that you could see the pulley moving out of true as it spun, in addition of course to the noise, BUT.....because it was still just about charging the battery it was not deemed to have failed!!!

More fool the garage you might say for being too honest, but I guess this is one of many exclusions designed to minimise payouts or at least defer them.

After 3mths of ownership of a 3yr old car the dealer was fully liable to fix that fault. You must be a muppet to have paid out £2K.

I've heard that as well and while you can't expect a garage to lie, they have got to be a bit careful what they say.

I just got a spring replaced which WD approved and paid for, but the garage told me they asked if it was corroded. The garage said no, but the reality is the only reason road springs break these days is because of corrosion so there wouldn't have been much I could complain about if they'd rejected it.

My daughter recently passed her driving test and being a student and working 3 part time jobs managed to save £6000, she bought herself a nice little BMW mini convertible from a dealer who supplied her with a WARRANTY DIRECT warranty. After a month or so she experienced some overheating, she checked her warranty and it said she could take the car to an approved garage and WARRANTY DIRECT would pay the garage direct or take it to any VAT registered garage you pay and then claim back from WARRANTY DIRECT. Having spent most of her money buying the car she decided to use an approved garage, she phoned WARRANTY DIRECT to enquire who were the approved garages in our area only to be told that they are not allowed to give that information out as it is not legal for them to recommend specific garages (I wonder if they actually have any approved garages). So she took it to our local garage with whom we've used before and always been satisfied, they replaced the radiator fan, thermostat and a few other parts, she sent the invoice off to WARRANTY DIRECT and sometime later received a letter saying that they would not pay the full amount of the repairs because the thermostat was not covered, fair enough but the amount they held back from the total cost of repairs could have bought 10 thermostats. Later on my daughter experienced overheating again so she took it back to the garage and they discovered that the replacement fan (genuine BMW part) was faulty so this was replaced and another invoice sent to WARRANTY DIRECT, they were not happy with the invoice and had my daughter get an amended invoice from the garage, amended invoices endlessly backwards and forwards to WARRANTY DIRECT, she has now heard from them saying it's been too long since the start of this saga that they are not going to pay up. I would recommend any one who is going to buy a car with a WARRANTY DIRECT warranty not to be put at ease because the car has a warranty because in my opinion it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

No I would not recommend Warranty Direct at all. In all honesty this warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. You will find that the parts which are prone to need replacement are the ones that will not be covered. The parts they will cover are the ones which will will never need replacing. How do you think these companies make money? If you own a Mercedes or a Bmw , I own a Mercedes ,you are better off purchasing a warranty through them. Originally I had a Mercedes warranty which I believe are Mondial and have never had one single problem with them no matter how small the fault was. In my haste and trying to save a little money I made the mistake of purchasing one through Warranty direct. Although Mondial warranties are slightly more expensive it will be well worth it in the long run. I will never be buying a warranty from Warranty Direct again and believe me they will do all they can to get out of paying out for any kind of claim. I feel this strongly about it, I have written to Which so that people are made aware of this.

Save your money and go to a reputable warranty company as Warranty direct is not one of them.
