5,000

I was thinking of having a road trip from New York to California or somewhere. Most of the miles this year have been commuting due to injury and eBay runs.

Oh no! I've just double checked the M.O.T and I only have 500 miles of my limited policy left. yikes

Hopefully the weather will be cool enough for me to cycle to work again soon.
Have you done all those miles by yourself or did a mate/familiy member borrow it at some point?

Dad has done a couple of hundred. He doesn't like the car (well the rules that go with it, he's a smoker and I've taken the ash tray out).

It was more of a suggestion than a question...

I know. I think insurance companies get enough people jumping through loopholes. wink

In exchange for valeting two of my mates cars he fitted the tyres to my wheels for me.

woohoo

One of the balancing weights got knocked off by the rear shock and all was well until my sister who has lost enough weight to be medically overweight instead of morbidly obese needed a lift to the Post Office.

Lucky I have a spare brake drum in my shed...

...luckier I kept hold of my 10mm spacers and longer wheel studs...

...and even luckier I have a bucket full of every bolt I have taken off every car I have owned so I have some 10mm longer 12mm bolts to hold the spacers in place.

Not quite hubcentric but a lot safer than just using the wheel studs.

At lest the rim is clear of the shock and inner arch now. No more heavy loads though. So it's lucky I'll have my Panda 4x4 van for that sort of thing soon. wink

I thought the residents of Norfolk used teleporters to transport sisters these days?

That'd be Lincolnshire.

I think I'm adopted as I'm the only one in my family who's remotely fit and has taste in cars. Obviously dad worked for Lotus and that's we mover over to this tropical little island but the whole time he was there he drove a tweaked MkII Cavalier.

Nice project and one of the rarest and desirable Pandas out there. Worth £3,000 when done maybe more if concourse.

My Fantasia's first show...

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1797830...

...wasn't the newest, wasn't the ropiest and it was a group of like minded guys and gals with no concourse egotism and an eclectic mix of classic, retro and modern stuff. The next event will be during the Easter bank holiday weekend. Hopefully I'll have more to show and a lot more to tell. smile

So what else have I been up to? I've borrowed Guff II's headlights because they have the H4 adapters fitted...

...because Kev' (van of death) had a set of H4 HID's for a tenner. wink

I was going to do a "how to" series of photo's but you are basically changing a set of bulbs and it would come across as pedantic.

L.E.D side lights only as the dim/dip setting makes HID's strobe.

Silver/Chrome indicator bulbs so I don't have those orange caplets showing through the lenses.

A nice clean white dip...

...that is penciled a lot better than more expensive kits and even though they aren't any brighter the cleaner light increases visibility from all angles.

High beam is a little disappointing but that's why I have drive lamps. wink

When you assume you make an ass of you (u) and me.
I guessed the new lights were causing my electrical issues. Took them out, retrofitted the original bulbs, tried them again and the same symptoms presented themselves. On the way back into the house to get my hammer I noticed the date...

September 30th

...Happy Hedgehog Cleaning Day!

Once the earth block was squirted with WD40 all the lights worked perfectly again. The HID's can stay in the shed until I find a new home for it.

Well it's been a while since I looked under the Fantasia bonnet. I borrowed the starter motor for my 4x4 and now that has other issues I'm considering taxing the old girl and using her occasionally in the Winter.

Most of my restoration budget has gone on the 4x4 and bits needed for it so with Santa's elves and the Tax Ogre gang raping the payday fairies for the next couple of months restoration is on hold (again).

Still the Panda 4x4 starter motor cleaned up well and is now fitted. Just charging the battery before I prime the fuel lines and see if the Fantasia will start after six weeks.
