Owning a GT I am a little biased but what sent me the way of the GT instead of the Brera was the looks. As much as I think the Brera is a good looking car I couldn't get past how it looks like a 159 with a coupe rear. I don't think the same can be said of the GT exterior design in comparison with 147 or 156 even though underneath it is very similar and inside it is almost a 147.
I also felt the Brera looked quite heavy with massive overhangs and only really worked in the s spec with big wheels, where the GT looks more nimble and works on little 16s or 17s. Then the interior of the Brera, as much as it is more modern I felt the slabby centre console looked generic and too Germanic. It has been said that the styling of the GT is starting to look old generation, well consider how the Brera will look aside the current gen cars, 8C, Mito and Giulietta, especially when the new saloon and 4C come out.

Sorry Squadrone Rosso but that ain't going to sway me or dare I say it anyone towards a Brera V6, in fact I guess it will have the opposite effect.

Snobby bunch of canutes who look down on anyone who either doesn't have something near new or bona-fide 'classic'. Woe betide anyone turning up in a 10-15 year old 'banger'.

In my opinion - purely personal obviously - the brera looks like a 3 door hatch. The gt actually looks like a coupe. As someone else said, the overhangs kill the brera for me.
If the only reason the brera has more character than the gt is the engine, drive a gt diesel. Its hardly an all time great engine note, but for a diesel it has an appealing growl, and it really does have good power, torque and boost characteristics for a diesel. Its economical too. I get 45 mpg average. I think the interior is really nice, but of course that's very personal. At 6'2" I'm very comfortable. No dpf on the gt.
As youll gather I'm in the gt camp (I own one!). I just dont 'get' the brera.

I'm an AROC member, my Alfa is 8 years old so is neither new or a classic (yet) , however your comments are out of order. I don't doubt there are some who display snobbish/dismissive attitude, however this is also the case with other clubs in my experience. I think your attitude says more about you than it does about AROC members you may or may not have meet in the past.

Maybe things have changed, and maybe some areas are different to others - but I attended a few functions (14-15 years ago), where any FWD Alfa was still the spawn of the devil to the middle class, driving glove wearing 105 series owners. Very, very, different to my experience of MX5 and Fiat clubs.

The advantage of that is it is probably more practical than a Brera. I've never driven a GT, so can't comment directly on, but a few friends have them and all seem happy with them - one is even on her second one! The Brera to me is the 'proper' coupe - impractical, flawed and beautiful. I have driven a V6 and thought it was great - exactly as someone said - great GT car, not a sportscar, I was more interested in the Spider at the time though, but couldn't justify getting one. I had a GTV twinspark for over 10 years so am quite familiar with the idea of having a car like this as 'daily driver' and it was surprisingly 'practical' despite sharing the characteristics I mention above for the Brera. At the end of the day it's got to be personal - which car, when you open the curtains in the morning will give you the biggest smile...and a bigger one when you drive it. OP - Good luck with whichever you choose.
