Getting to grips now, I become happier the more I look at it, cupid has bitten hard.

Havn't driven it yet, still sourcing insurance. No doubt I will be 'head over heels in love' once driven.

It allegedly has an EVO Engineering chip fitted, which I need to establish 1st before progressing insurance.
So far, no chip = £215 Classic car ins, with chip = £439 Classic car ins.

Being a CB points and SU carb man; I am mustering confidence to remove the ECU and its cover, to have a look for markings on the chip.
To prevent me inflicting electrical damage on my newest toy, any extra tips designed to boost my confidence wouldn't go amiss (I have downloaded the 'how to sheet' from Evocorner).
phone up EVO E and ask them if yours is fitted with one of their chips - fae easier smile

Not that good advice actually.. Barry Whitehouse(the main man at Evo Eng) sadly died a few years ago and the current guys there, while keeping the name, are not in the same league and im not even sure they were ever connected to the late Mr Whithouse.....

Agree, made contact. They have zero records as the 'pc's were damp and have expired together with the data'. They now seem more focussed on LPG conversions. I will check the ECU this weekend.
Q
What diffence in premium would one expect to pay with and without chip (note: brakes and suspension upgraded to suit, also has supersprint exhaust and uprates conical air box).

You really ought to get over to Evo Corner and introduce yourself... There are people there who know everything there is to know about these cars...

Very helpful bunch too.
Will stop posting here on this subject, but thought I would hedge my bets in the early questioning phase. Thanks to all Phers too who are not on Evocorner.

DJC, that's great. Please kindly e-mail me some pics, if it's not too much hassle. Cheers.

That's some strong prices. Cool colour on the grey one, but can't see anyone paying anywhere near that level though.

The Evo Eng chip will be from Evo Engineering. 210-260 sounds right. The switchable dash model came later and was only for Evo 1s.

A few of the Evo engineering boys are still at what has become Evo Autos. I used them for some bodywork recently and they did a top job.

S'ok mate I returned the favour when I told him the car was owned by you previously and mentioned you were the most anal owner Id ever known smile

Well, I mentioned something about you and anal, but I cant quite recollect the context now...

Honestly though, I said nice things about you as a previous owner! How are you keeping anyway?
