Well the kit is now fitted but more test driving is needed before a report be submitted his royal Tuzziness.

Yes more Barchetta pics needed. I think its a battle between me and Iva as to who can include the same make in this thread the most times. I may just be edging it though as ive been writing on here for longer.

As for the Lotus, glad to see your already planning changes etc. But be warned, the world of mods is a long a expensive one biggrin

I like the idea of being Royal...

What's the first impressions?

What was the financial damage in total?

Well sort of, the gear linkage is more a must do for owners, as it really makes the shift brilliant as opposed to crap, its a wonder why they haven't still sorted the bloody gearbox, might one of those weird things that cost far more than you think. And I'm to much of a coward to change wheel size, its meant to be one of the best handling cars, I don't want to cock it up and waste 750 quid...

Saw a Fiat coupe today, rushing to get some mint jelly (don't ask) I forget how good they look.

What's the plan now then? Are you buying a house like a boring normal person?

Just get one of those wooden garages you see in the back of Octane with a flat over the top....

Sorry chaps, pics still not ready,Sunday ended a little disastrously with a steering lock

key problem.

Will sort it out at weekend.

One highlight i saw at the rally was the 308 spun exiting Druids on the 5th stage,he did a

full 360 without leaving the relatively narrow tarmac, didn't get pics of that either...paperbag

I put the Disclock onto the steering wheel, you don't need the key to put it on

but i didn't have the key to unlock it so i had to send brother in law to my house

to get the other set of keys......i am losing my marbles.....[again]....loser

So after a few days of having the Koni fitted ive had enough time to judge the change. So it all started with the order being placed through TMC Motorsport. The Koni was for sale at £570, which seemed a decent deal when compared to other quotes i'd received. These ranged from £1020 including fitting to £820 including fitting. Daron at TMC was at the Autosport show when dealing with my order so i decided to go and pick the suspension up myself from the distributor to save time, which turned out to be Thames Abarth in Slough. When i was down there i spotted a nice Tributo Ferrari and 50th Anniversary Edition Abarth (sorry didn't get pics).

Then i booked the car in with Solo Italia in Eynsham. Booking a car in with them can sometimes be difficult as they are usually pretty busy but obviously its quieter in the new year as i only had to wait a couple of days to get a slot. I left the car with a bloke called Gaz over night and took their wet dog smelling Stilo as a courtesy car.

The Brembo springs are supposed to lower the car by IIRC 10mm at the front and 20mm at the rear. However i honestly cannot see any difference at the front. The rear does look slightly more planted. I asked about the possibility of getting Coupe bump stops fitted as the stock ones are a bit big, unfortunately though they didnt have any in stock so we agreed that trimming the stock ones down would probably have the same effect. They did the tracking as well, however they told me on pick up that having done a test drive it didn't feel quite right, and suspected that the tracking was probably out. They booked a man to come and check their machines calibration for a few days after pick up and we agreed i would return and have the tracking done again for free. The damage came to £132 including tracking at £35.

As soon as i hit the road the change in ride was obvious, the car was much less bouncy and rode the bumps 10 times better than previously. And despite the ride height having only dropped by a small amount there was obvious improvement in body roll and cornering too. It was also clear though that the tracking was out as the car pulled to the left slightly, so i decided not to drive the car too much so as to preserve the tyres. In the little driving i did do to and from work etc a new banging noise had emerged. It appeared over speed bumps and was much worse when under load with passengers etc. At first i dreaded it was the 'knocking' Koni problem. After a few days though i decided it was probably the exhaust.

So that brings me to today, a trip back to Solo Italia confirmed that the tracking was well out. We also took a look under the car and discovered that the exhaust had indeed been banging against the axle. The lower ride had reduced the gap between the centre section of the exhaust and the axle, add some passengers to that and the gap is reduced further. Gaz cut a bit of a hose in half and zip tied it to the axle to act as a buffer between the axle and exhaust.

After that i took the car for an extended test drive, about 2 hours in total. A drive through Burford to Chipping Norton and then the B4031 to Anhyo confirmed that the car has been massively improved. It feels a lot more planted and gives a lot more confidence when 'pushing' it, plus the exhaust banging has been reduced by about 90%.

So the total financial damage has been £570 + £132 + £29 for insurance = £731 much cheaper than the other options smile

If you have a stock suspension on your A500 i cant recommend it enough!

Been thinking about the new RWD Guilia, should be rather promising. According to rumours, it will get a v6.

So the 404bhp ghibli engine, in a RWD Alfa, M4 hunting?

Lets hope so. I think if Alfa an get the guilia to 1300kgish, keep Alfa's 'brand value' of lightness with the 4c, they'll be on to a winner in matching the M4's 280bhp/tonne, 404/1350kg is 299.

Great pics iva,

love the dodgy look you're getting from the driver in the top photo!

The 308 is a very pretty car, not sure the paintjob flatters it though!

Yeh colour scheme leaves a bit to be desired. Bet it sounded great though, but where are the pics of the Barchetta??

As for the Alfa, what is this going to look like? Google throws up lots of different pics. I imagine it will be like a big Giulietta??

Oh God knows, every mag did a render of a sporty 3dr saloon.

I hope it doesn't look like a big Giulietta, awful looking cars.

Nahh, looks better in red biggrin Its is nice though, i'd get one if i were a wealthy man. Chris Evans had one in white, didnt quite look right in that colour. Red is the only way for the Dino to me smile

My weekend in a couple of pics...

The Punto Supersport Essesse was very cool.

Sadly not!

Was it a club meet?

Really want to get my hands of an old mag reviewing the Abarth 1300 OT from 70s, bit expensive on ebay and I am poor at the moment frown

I need some car posters, by rooms pretty bare - I was thinking one of those x ray drawings by that Japanese artist, the mag I was after was an road and track.

But a 655kg race car is going to be good isn't it?

Although it will be a while until I could get my hands on one.
