930kg, 100ish bhp. Sounds like a no brainer!
Well ive had a chat with dad and he shares an interest in owning a Junior. Ill need somewhere to keep a car though, i.e a garage. So we've had a look at the garden, there is room to build one or alternatively convert the shed into one. Were thinking going down the shed route. Ive got some time off soon so we'll get to work clearing it. In the meantime ill have to do some man maths to make it work. I may go down the route of a 500 or Fulvia, just to save some money. Insuring a second car when your only 22 may be rather pricey! Although dad wants a Junior and believes that it will gain more value (i believe he may be right on that one). Im justifying it to mum on the grounds that its an investment and ill see my money again, maybe even a profit. Although dad says that thats irrelevant because once i buy it i wont want to sell it (again i think he may be right). I am rather keen on owning a nice old petrol, rear wheel drive car, before green peace forces us all to drive round in cars made out of moss and powered on Squirrel piss. Its a beauty.

You might not want to sell it, but if the value goes crazy you might find yourself in a position to make a big profit!
The 500 is a nice idea, but I wonder how much fun you will get from a non Abarth model, as cool as they are. Although I forgot to see a saw a turquoise one the other day, looked rather cool in that colour. Fulvias are a nice idea, but once again the HF are properly expensive.
Personally I'd go after a 105 series coupe unless some really stands out. They are just so pretty in the flesh, and rather a hoot to drive. Alfa from a truly brilliant age of their history. And like I said, getting it to GTA or similarly sporty spec over time wont be too tricky.
There was an evo review of a lightly modified GTA stradale by Alfaholics some years back, very little done but just removed the roll. Sounds perfect to me!
If you can, I would.
I wouldn't worry too much about Green party politics, any one with any sense will simply enforce stricter rules on new mass market cars, so twin airs for everyone!
This thread needs more internal shots.
Zonda 760RS, the reason for my blue exhaust fetish.
I saw 2 Alfa's today at Cholmeley. One was a 1750 GTV and the other a 2000. They looked gorgeous, and gave me a chance to eye up how big they would be in relation to the shed. It will fit. However i still need to do insurance research, i think that will be the biggest hurdle.
Anyway to the rest of the day...
Its mid engined
I believe the one above is of a Cooper Maserati, as you can see it had a coming together with the barrier. The headlight was full of straw
I saw this Abarth revving whilst in the paddock, it sounded immense as you can imagine. I had my camera recording it so i could post it up. So you can imagine my frustration when i realised i hadn't actually pressed record! So no video
Just a few more pics....
Recognise that one? Yep, the Turbocharged, Supercharged Lancia Delta S4. Sat on those P7 Corse Classic shoes Harris reviewed a while back.
The exhausts appear to come from two different places, i assume its because one is attached to the turbo?
Theirs more bit i dont want to fill the whole thread up!

Whats going on with the boot Iva?
Oh don't make me .........
The Abarth was simply described as the Abarth Osella. Looking at the website it appears to be from 1974 and was used for hillclimbs and European car championships. I think the model is a PA2 which stands for Prototipo Alberto in memory of Abarth and Osella engineer Alberto Guerrato. The PA2 would be the second version after the PA1. It had a 2ltr, 270bhp engine which revved all the way to 8700rpm. The PA1 was the last scorpion badged car to win a round of the European championship. The PA2 was the last ever Abarth prototype racer. So their you go Tuzzi. The one in the picture was prepared by Middle Barton garage, which is not to far from where i live. They have a shop, i should visit
The 500 below has half a Cossie engine
In the pic above you may or may not be able to see that the wheel and seat are not straight, they were at at angle. I think it was because the pedals were not in line with the driving position, so they angled them to compensate.
For some reason this pic is on its side. Its not Italian as you can see, but it is me sat in it
The pedals were about 2 miles to the right of where my feet lined up. Its a replica D-Type but based on original bits n bobs, built around an S-Type. The owner just let me jump in, he drives it on public roads all the time!
And if all those pics weren't enough here's a poor quality 9 second clip thrown in free of charge.

Great stuff, actually I looked up what model it was, probably should have done that before asking...thanks for the mini history lesson anyway
I will have to ban that picture of you in a D type replica, firstly because its not Italian, and secondly, its a replica...
Abarth was crazy successful in all prototype classes, the 1300 OT in the 1.3, and the SE 021, PA1, PA2 (ok less so for the PA2). It would be so up Abarth's street to get into LMP2. Lets hope so!
Crikey seems like a wicked day! Definitely will have to go next year, sadly the MR2 needs an mot, service and some new tires.
I'll be rocking some Yoko ADO8R semi semi slicks, that's right, they are half way between a high performance tyre and semi slick. So shall be named semi semi slicks.
Found this today in the Maranello Rosso museum courtesy of ultimatecarpage.com

I was a bit disappointed when i found out the Jag was a replica. He only told me after i got out of it. It was very convincing, certainly had me fooled. The event as a whole wasn't bad, but not a patch on Silverstone. There wasnt the same variety of cars and because its a hill climb as apposed to a race, you didn't see as much action. Abarth at Le Mans would be very cool. But like the racing they did in the 70's, i wonder if it would be cost effective?
If they did go back to Le Mans it may be enough to tempt me to go back too.
Those tyres certainly look the business! It will be interesting if the difference is noticeable too. Ive never been sure if im a skilled enough driver to be able to tell the difference between those and more normal tyres.
Whats that Ferrari then? Is it a heavily modified 288? You've got me stumped on that one.
Its a 512 BBLM.
New to me too but looks ace! Not sure of its history either.
I've never really been a fan of replicas, I've never had any time for style of substance, I'd rather spend my cash on a Caterham that handled like a 50s racer rather than just have one that looks like it. But if it makes them happy...
I think it would be cost effective if Abarth had a sports car, if I had my way ( here we go...more delusional Fantuzzi musings...) then Abarth would make its main money from 500 abarths, one like yours, so a sporty upgraded 500, then one mad ass bd of a machine with a 2litre in the back, rwd and arches bigger than the western world has ever seen. Then do an elise like sports car, preferable with a cf tub, do two versions, a turismo, with a/c, radio, carpets, then a stripped version for sadists like me! Then I think the LeMan connection would be worth it.
I doubt Abarth will though, if anything it would make sense for Alfa to go into WEC if they are trying to market themselves as a sporting brand. But how much people succumb to race focussed marketing these days is debated, so I doubt Lemans will see a 'red' car for a while, unless Ferrari have a strop in F1 and decide to go and have a go at Porsche. Which might happen.
Iva, I was told about it in another forum, the GTO is worth the trip alone!

Great pics! The 1750 is a stunner.
I think I'd have the Dino over the Montreal!
Never driven either of them. The 33 V8 is legend of course.I think I'd have the Dino over the Montreal!
Meant to be very quiet, comfy, and a great GT car, still capable in the corners but not up there in that department.
Not sure how the Dino is on the driving side, I don't know much about them!
I think if I had the money for a late 60s/70s classic, I think I'd wither and get a 240z. Or an Elan...
I want one of these!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJVAhv4wa_g
Maybe that could be the eventual aim for a classic 500 if i bought one?

Haha yeah a full blown 1000cc racer would be ace!Maybe that could be the eventual aim for a classic 500 if i bought one?
Pretty awesome with 200bhp/tonne!
I've never warmed much to the looks of the TRC, Always felt the 695 SS Assetto Corsa had the hot 500 look so perfect.
I've been thinking about this today, it has around 750bhp/tonne. A La Ferrari has 706.
You will be mine, oh yes, you will be mine.
