Its great fun chatting away to those who race, like you said most are rather friendly and happy to chat away. I just need to get to some proper events now!
I was walking past a garage about 6 months ago, noticed something old and sporty. At first I thought it was the back of a race/climb prepped xk120, only to release on closer inspection it was a C type. Replica I thought, must be, cant be that lucky. Owner comes out, and sure enough its a real one! Lovely chap, chatted for a while and then to top it off, took me for a ride! Wow, such an amazing car. Felt so stiff and planted, although admittedly not going fast. Made my year!
It was so great to be in an early 50s car, like the ones I spend too much time coveting, and really experiencing what it was like. Id always have a funny feeling that perhaps the 200si's and the like I'd kill for would disappoint, and for a 'driving' experience something more modern but far less alluring would trump it. But from my brief experience I think I'd be anything but disappointed. Id love to get a ride in one pushing on, because it felt so stiff, I'm sure it would be stunning when at full tilt.
