I suspect I'm not the first but Google can't find a good how to fix it page...

2010 Mito boot no longer unlocks on the key and rear wiper has gone intermittent. Pressing remote flashes the lights, sometimes wiper moves a little when you do this but no clunks or otherwise from the lock.

Looks like wiring/earth fault, anyone had this and know where to look, or have a picture of what's behind the trim?

Thanks,
AdrianR

Sorry to revive an ancient thread but did you get any luck in sorting this? My 59 plate Mito boot no longer opens and getting the same intermittent wiper issue.

You might find this thread useful on alfaowner...

... seems if there's multiple issues it's more likely to be breaks in the harness where it flexed - seems like some people cut open the rubber section and fix any wires that need it.

I believe it's possible to buy repair sections (alfashop are one such vendor - seen a couple of places selling similar cheaper) which come with sections of wire (and a section of washer fluid tubing) with crimp connectors. I guess they're designed such that the the original section of loom in that area is cut out and the repair section crimped in - no idea how easy/hard that is though!

I found another thread on alfa owner suggesting the particular type of wire used in the original harness wasn't great at handling the flexing.

Odd you should ask now. It's a friends car, not mine but when it happened last time I suspected an earth fault so we inspected the flexi wiring, then took the trim panel off and tested the signals to the latch and all seemed OK, conclusion the latch was busted. Car was due an MOT anyway so it got booked into a garage who changed the latch mechanism (£lots I seem to recall) and was fine after that, up until a couple of weeks ago when it started playing up again, intermittently.
