I cannot understand why you would think that the 4C has a well conceived and executed chassis that for some unknown reason happens to be borderline dangerous on 'UK roads'.
SS7
Because I have one and it drives superbly. SS7
SS7
Call me a cynic but it would be all too easy for biassed Journos to slate the Alfa which may have a large (and unwarranted) target on its back. I don't buy all the 'dangerous on British roads' comments. Spiteful jargon to lure potential buyers into rivals cars imo.
I'd have one in a heartbeat.

A large proportion of Lotus is simply consultancy > Lotus Engineering. Not only with Parent companies but with other motoring manufacturers and defence too. Largely sensitive and in confidence, they've worked with most, if not all, the major players.

Very much so. And more than that too, just look at the Lotus Cortina, Lotus Omega/Carlton etc.
And there is also Prodrive that tuned the Brera "for UK roads".

so alfa makes approx 2500 4Cs annually. but, the production run could be for a few years yet, which gives them time to fix the handling of the car. just order one in say 2017?
3.500 initially,Before they announced a new/second supplier (a British company) next to Adler, for the CF tub and before they presented the spider, they've also hinted to come up with a QV version.
If they do my prediction is that the production of the regular/current 4C will be ended before 2017.
Besides given the low volumes and work/expenses involved in for example the tub, I don't think they'll make a lot of money on the 4C, maybe even none at all....
just been down to my friendly local alfa dealer to see what all the fuss is about
in brief :
five staff in the dealership, and no other customers
first salesman genuinely didn't know what a 4c was !
second one quoted 2.5 years delivery - "alfa are limiting production to keep it exclusive"
third one reckons more like late summer
nothing to look at as the demo car has "gone" ???!!! they might get another in august...
no brochures, no business cards, no price list, but the price is definitely £6k more than on the alfa website
will call me back...

Yes, in line with the worldwide experiences people have with most, not all, Alfa dealerships.
The one where I bought my Guilietta, when asked end 2013 about the 4C told me to 'go to Geneva, it is on show there'.
So hopped in car, drove to other dealer, walked in and said I wanted one in black before end of 2014. Mouths opened, papers were grasped. Got it delivered 4 months later.
