ive been having this issue for sometime now on my fiat punto.
starts from cold fine and runs lovely.drives fine but after she has warmed through and you stop for traffic lights the rad fan kicks in as it should but i get a little drop in revs like the cars struggling for voltage and as the fan is running you can feel the engine idle getting rougher. fan goes off and the idle returns to normal feeling fine.
she begins to smooth out then as the fan comes on again so it begins with the tremor of a rough running motor.
its just had new thermoswitch new stat new coolant new fan speed resistor and new coolant temp sensor. battery was new in january and shows a healthy 12.65v at rest.at idle its showing 13.93v rising to 14.1v at 2000rpm. this suggests to me battery and alternator are ok.

what do fellow fiat pitsonheads reckon i should look to???? the earths have been removed cleaned and tightened back up.....its a puzzler and a bit annoying.

Hi

does the engine fan cut in as soon as you become stationery ? I would not have thought it should cut in soquickly.
