I was looking for something non-mainstream and came across this by chance. It turns out to be more non-mainstream than I was expecting, I went up and down the rows of classics at Goodwood but not a single 1500/1600 to be seen.

I had planned to head out to Italy to pick it up but as I was short of time I had a trucking company bring it over. It arrived a week ago and I dropped it off with a Fiat specialist to get it checked over and MOT'd. It looks pretty solid, it runs, it steers, it brakes and the lights work. It needed one or two small tasks and will be ready for the MOT tomorrow. I can then get it registered.

It has a hard top and a soft top, the soft top is so-so and will need to be replaced. The interior is white, white on white is just too much white for me, I'm going to have it re-trimmed over the winter, I'm thinking of going for tan.

It has an OSCA engine and is a Pininfarina body, they used the same styling on a Peugeot. This is a 1963 car. I don't know if Fiat sold this model in the UK, they certainly sold it in the States and I have picked up a brochure and a manual in English. I'm learning as I go along, if anyone can shed any light on the history of the 1600s I would be very pleased to hear.

I will post some more pictures when I get it home.

My Fiat 1,600s is now on the road. I have replaced the trim, changing from white vinyl to black leather. I have a new soft top ready to fit. I have fitted new Pirilli tyres all round, replacing those of unknown origin that rather suspiciously had all their ID markings scrubbed off. I tracked down a signed and 1962 dated Nardi steering wheel, the original having been removed.

This is a 1963 Fiat 1600s Osca although it took a while to convince Swansea of the fact, they originally responded suggesting it was manufactured in 1992. Roll on spring!

Thanks for the comment.

I purchased a trim part from this supplier in Holland, it turned out to be a reproduction and not a very good one at that. When I returned it for a refund he took it a bit personally! More successfully I have tracked down a few other odd bits I needed. My best find, via eBay, was the cover that goes over the hood when folded. This was missing from my car and something I had only seen in pictures. This cover was in the US listed at $75, in the pictures it looked tatty and I purchased it with the intention of using it as a template to have a new one made. It turned out to be far better than I was expecting and it is good to be able to reunite an original item with the car. I have purchased a new hood from Italy and the frame is away being powder coated at the moment.

Next target on my tidy-up/acquisition list is to get shot of the c80's radio/cassette that looks rather out of place in the dashboard either in favour of a more period radio or the original blanking plate.

I have seen pictures/listings of UK registered cars in 1200 and 1500 guise but as yet as yet I have not seen any sign of any other UK owners of a 1600s. There must be some.

I will post some more pictures when I get the new hood on.

I'm on the hunt presently, funds arn't quite in place as I've just bought something else as I couldn't find what I wanted at the time.
If you ever fancy a chat over a breakfast(on me) let me know, I've never actually seen one in the flesh to date.

I hadn't seen one in the flesh either until I took a flight out to Italy to buy this one!

More than happy to share any info I have gleamed, little as it is, I will be at Brooklands for the Italia Day on 2nd May.
