The price seems good for such a low mileage example, but its been for sale for some time, which makes me wonder.

I would be asking about service history and when the cambelt was last changed before wasting any time.

Don't know the car, but it does look a good example. There is a good chance it has the bigger 330mm brakes due to it's 54 reg.

It will definitely have the bigger brakes.

Unless it was built a long time before it was registered. Unlikely, i know, but it can happen.

They are 330mm brake calipers, if nothing else.

Quite simply, do it!

I had one for 5 years and replaced the standard shocks/springs with Novitec ones and fitted a Q2 diff.

Absolutely fantastic car and the only one I miss. Stupidly quick around corner a with the Q2 fitted, glorious engine noise, fantastic looks and a special place to be for every journey.

Unfortunately 25mpg meant it had to go when my journey to work doubled and I was spending g £4-500 a month on fuel.4

I bought one in December and certainly don't regret it. Do be careful though - there's a lot of rubbish out there. The car I bought was the sixth car I looked at (I live in Scotland and have been up and down the UK looking for the right car). All the cars I looked at were sub-60k miles and described as 'immaculate', 'wants for nothing', 'mint' etc but never were when I inspected them. Different interpretations perhaps, but merely my experience of buying a GTA.

The car I got has done 57k, has the Q2 and the big brakes and the 18 inch wheels (not a fan of the teledials) and has been very well maintained. Only thing I've done is add a Raggazon back box and unsilenced centre section (the ideal combo for a snarly rumble but maintaining a quiet motorway cruise).

They are lovely things. Don't be disillusioned, they're no dynamic delight - it's a car for long sweeping A-roads as opposed to a country lane thrashmobile. But they get under your skin in a way that an R32 can only dream of.

Good cars are out there - you just have to take your time and find them. Resign yourself to the fact that it will have had a good hiding most of it's life (they instill hooligan behaviour in even the most restrained of drivers!!) so preventative rather than reactionary maintenance is essential. Find a good one and you'll adore it.

Thread with mine in it here.... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
