I'm sorry - you and I appear to be wrong.

The driving Gods at EVO, CAR and Pistonheads say so and the comments section ditto. It is a missed chance, awful, frustrating sad, an MR2 turbo, anything positive to be said on the car is emotional drivel. I guess we'll have to sell it.

Actually, I'd rather after 13 years leave what has become sheepleheads. Enjoy your cars or enjoy being envious of others, whatever group you belong to. Ta. getmecoat
"For now the 4C is a sports car for posers rather than the drivers"

Ouch. That's gotta sting.
You could level the poser card at any expensive red sports car, who ever said that is stupid and lacks imagination.

plenty wrong with the 4C, plenty right with it as well! i don't think that anyone who has handed over the readies feels short changed.

oh and in case anyone dropping into this thread hasn't heard, Alfa are starting a 4C 'pitstop program' they will be in contact with owners and certain chassis numbers will be collected, taken away to the alfa HQ in England and 'updated'. I don't know for sure but rumors suggest this will be to address some software issues and modify the geometry.
Perhaps, I think the author was trying to say it is 'style over substance'.
And that it doesn't come from Hethel doesn't help.......

Reading owners reviews of and sat in a Lotus Elise myself, I get a feeling Lotus is being judged too much on it's rights and the 4C too much on it's wrongs.

Without redoing the discussion like the one in another thread on this forum; f.i. EVO gave the latest Elise Cup 5 out of 5 stars; did Catchpole mention that he could hardly fit (his knees are next to his ears), that the gearbox isn't really good, that it rattled a bit, that the interior was cramped, spartan and not of particularly high quality, that the engine wasn't as good and/or characterfull as Porsche Cayman's is....

No it didn't, just five stars (and if you listen really good at the end of the video you good just about hear the "god save the queen" set in).
What didn't you like about the elise you drove out of interest? Most owners comments Ive read (a lot, as Im a prospective owner!) adore the little things.

RE EVO review, I suppose they felt the driving experience still made it a 5 star car - despite its faults, where as the issues evo have had with the 4c have been in its driving, rather than just 'the interiors cheap, its small' etc.

Although I've always thought the interior of the elise's have been pretty good for the cheap, Spartan vibe! The s3 looks smarter than most modern hot hatches!

Just to say, I don't think its a nationalistic thing, Evo are hard on cars. They have slated British cars heavily in the past, Astons (db9), MG zf never really got much praise at all, same for the ZR and jags haven't always been treated with much love. BMW have always been a mixed bag depending on model. Porsches haven't always faired well - the latest 911 (991) was hounded, with their front cover '911 beaten -why it fails its toughest test' - only really the GT3 got any sort of love. They've always been pretty big fans of Ferrari, Pagani, Maserati, little fiats, and even Alfa, the 147 GTA was very much praised, and the 8c got through to their Car of the year 2008 and got some of the more favourable reviews amongst the motoring press. So I don't think there is anything UKIP going on wink

Not that I would take much notice as it is JC, but he isn't normally silent with regards to a cars faults including Alfa!

Seems that he takes issue with the 4C bashing by the mags and loves the 4C.

Personally I absolutely love the way the Elise drives, yet to try a 4C in the flesh.

Well he's wrong, if anything that's the polar opposite of what it is. Drive one, you'll see.
Let me have a go in yours and I'll email you my review wink

How does it compare to your old club racer out of interest.
