Just a week outside of warranty and its required new Gearbox bearings with parts and labour now totaling £1200. The garage has refused any-form of goodwill as the vehicle was fully serviced independently and this apparently shows a lack of loyalty to the brand. Awaiting a decision on Fiat UK but looking negative at the moment. Any advice guys on what I might be able to do?

If i were you id ask this question in general gassing. its unusual, my other half has had three and they've all been fine and dandy. You're also not unusual by getting yours serviced by an indy, most people do as fiats servicing costs on 500's is ridiculous!

There are plenty of gearboxes on e-bay,re-con and 2nd hand from £125 to £400, get your independant to give a price to fit, will be a lot less than £1200.

Final outcome is they are willing to pay 20-50%, not been told which yet, of the overall costs. Considering that they refused originally and took a Twitter argument to get this response is quite surprising!
