Popped into my local Alfa Romeo dealership this morning for an indication of lead-in. They'll get back to me but anticipated 6-12 months.

Question....given that I want a new car, what advice can people give on the quickest way of getting one?

Cheers.

Try Dan @ Meridien, they have build slots available today for December delivery apparently. I passed and bought a very lightly used coupe from him yesterday instead. All the other dealers I spoke to were quoting at least 12 months for a Spider. Meridien quoting 2 years for a coupe! but do have a few slots for the Spider. They've also got a white spider in stock today if you fancy paying a small (well, compared to a GT4!) premium.

Thank you. I'll give them a try.

Does that imply that the coupe is more in demand than the Spider? I assumed the opposite would be true.

I dont think so. I'm under the impression that the 4C is built in batches and currently it's spider's being built on the single production line, RHD coupe's are a small part of the 4C market and will be built after the next production of LHD coupe's. The fact that Merdien have a few available slots left I think is just fortunate timing, all other dealers appear to be quoting at least 12 months. I spoke with Alfa GB this week who confirmed that on average a dealer can expect 2 coupes and 2 spiders per year so very small numbers. I wasn't willing to wait 2 years for a coupe so bought a used car with 400 miles on it instead. Good Luck.

Had a browse through Auto Trader classifieds...unbelievable how many 4C's with a few hundred miles or less are available for sale. They don't seem to be in great demand given the limited supply.

Certainly cars available yes. I think a 4C is a unique experience and actually quite a lot more hardcore and uncompromising than I was expecting when I drove one. For me this was hugely appealing, I like the fact that it makes no excuses but I think a lot of people bought them based on looks alone and then we're put off when they drove them because the 4C is really quite a focused thing. I think they are really special little cars but definitely not for everyone.
