Mito 1.6 diesel turbo gearbox where do I go?

OK first this is my sons car, not mine.
He shows me that the car is jumping out of 3rd gear going up the box, same coming down, no bad noises.
Having looked around the web it appears that the M32 gearbox is a weak link, with many problems.
So having checked around I am looking at £1200 plus VAT to drive it in and drive it out repaired, which I think is a lot of money.
Most companies want to repair the existing box, and from information I am getting the diesel 1.6 has a different bell housing.
Can you guys direct me to a transmission specialist who can get under £1000 inc VAT, live in the Bedford area but willing to travel as the car runs OK.
