I need to check the codes to see what causes this seemingly common problem, but meanwhile, someone recently told me that because the car has an aftermeerkat exhaust that could cause an intermittent engine warning light.
Is this true or just horsest?
Thanks in advance Mick

You might have better luck asking on alfaowners than here, as it's quite a specific question.

I guess if exhaust has been de-cat'd then it may cause eml. You can download the fiat/Alfa multiecuscan software for free to read and clear most faults, you just need a £12 cable from ebay. The only time it came on my 159 was when the battery was about to die, a weak battery can send all the sensors and startup checks in a frenzy.

Cool cheers. I've ordered the cable and reader kit
