The Alfa Romeo 4C lease thread
Discussion
Absolutely - it was just an opportune one for me too. I'd have been using it as a partial daily driver (access to other cars) but I think I'd be better served outright buying a 370z Nismo as I was planning on doing.
I did discuss the probable need for a varied spec of cars with Unity to have any success of achieving a fleet discount but not sure the reasoning was processed.

I don't think I'd go for the deal if that was the discount they could offer. I was only getting the 4c as a weekend toy. Can't really justify 13k on a toy for two years!
I don't think we'll have a positive outcome, TBH. I feel they would only have a chance of getting a fleet discount if they committed to a very large number of orders. But from Alfa's perspective, having a bunch of black 4cs at the end of two years on the used market, not selling, and only having taken 10k for each of them is not a smart business move.
I think with a waiting list on factory orders there is no incentive for Alfa Romeo to discount new cars meaning Alfa UK would have to cover the costs & I cant see that happening BUT for all who have paid out & signed an order I hope I'm wrong. I would also wonder if the order having signed & placed a sizeable deposit has to be honoured, the only reason they cant supply is an error in the figures that "they" made. Your contract is with whoever's name is on it so can they walk if they got it wrong, you can bet if they had suddenly found they get a deal wrong & there's more profit in it they wouldn't give it back, its business, you win & you loose.
I think the market for them is coming back, a few more second hand ones are selling & as the summer approaches the sports car selling season will start again. Its also a limited build programme so it cant be that long before Alfa stop making them, I would guess only a couple of years & that will see prices rise
Ive just PX'd mine for a new one to beat the April 1 tax rise, I want one as a keeper & beating the tax rise seemed to make sense

It's a monumental cock up really isn't it. Shame because it would have been a good intro to the brand for me, probably wouldn't have entertained Alfa ownership otherwise. Back to plan a I think, 996 turbo :-)
Going from an exciting Italian super car to a snooze fest The way I see it is everyone gives a little - Unity sacrifice a bit on margin, Alfa give a bit of a group buy discount and we pay a bit more a month, a deal is still possible. However I have a feeling Alfa are not in any hurry to lease a load of 4C's.

I'd still be up for it at £400 on 6+23 or 9+23 but £500 makes it a bit rich for my blood.

This is ours the day we picked it up. 1 year on and still in love. 280bhp and the steering sorted now it's mint. A short test drive will not show its full potential. I hope you guys all get sorted out. Be great to see more on the road.

Interesting one from a legal point. Figures were provided, agreed to, money taken so as such a contract has been formed. Computer or user error makes no difference to the legality.
Would be interested to know if the error means the dealer is selling at a loss or if it is Alfa UK blocked it due to the level of discount.
Alfa has got past the breaking down jokes (or was hoping so based on this being my first plunge into Alfa) ... instead it's the incompetent jokes!

From a legal point of view, it depends what the agreement/contract says. But ultimately if terms agreed, deposit paid then yes it's a legally binding contract. There may be small print in the agreement that allows the 'dealer' to terminate, but needs checking. Those who agreed terms but no money was paid have no standing I am afraid.
This is not an Alfa problem but a Unity one. I understand that Unity will loose 2-3k per car they are held to. Alfa are under no obligation to honour, and why should they? It is not their fault.
To those feeling disappointed, can completely understand. But often if something is too good to be true then it often is. When I bought my 4C I was paying 750pm.
There are a lot of great second hand ones out there (including mine!) c. 45k and I am sure a PCP deal on one won't be a million miles away.

Totally agree, there are some good deals on new cars, as I said earlier I've just pxd mine for a new one that will be registered before April first beating the road tax hike on cars over 40k new. Now I feel is a good time to try and push a good deal with a dealer. I think the low mileage / stock cars will become attractive after April 1 and will soon be sold, for those on the lease if it goes through they get the cars after the tax has gone up . The lease cars would be registered after the tax increase and prices reflected this increase as the lease co pay the tax.
It would be interesting if Unity were contractually olidged to honour the deal but I think they are within their rights to withdraw the offer? Just like if a shop misprices an item they can withdraw the product from sale?
