I know someone who is getting one soon and I was just wondering are there any big mechanical worries with them, things to look out for etc.
Engine choice-1.2 16v or 1.6 16v-depending on whats availible at the time.
Thanks ,

Ducati

We were looking at a 1.6 on an 05 plate at the weekend, from what I can gather they're a good car, strong mechanicaly, handle well (3 door is better) the 1.2 & 1.4 are a bit underpowered but the 1.6 is lively and the diesel is very good. trouble is it's let down by niggles ie. electrical, water leaks etc. We like it but are 'afraid' to buy it!!

I wouldnt worry about the 05's to be honest, most of the niggles were with the 02's. If the car has warranty then most of the issues can be sorted with that, other niggles are not that bad!

they make damn cheap cars...

Hmmm might have to go back and have another look on saturday, would have to make sure they cured the water leak in boot though

Yes avoid any Fiat or Alfa with Selaspeed. It WILL break down at some point. Damn things are a pain to put right and costly.
Make sure the car has the revised steering rack fitted as there was a recall for it. Front suspension wears quickly due to faulty steering rack. Make sure there is no lights showing on dash like "rear trunk open". This is a common problem. End of the day they are niggles really, but Fiat rushed this car out and the R&D was not done properly.
I saw yesterday, a Schumacher GP limited edition Abarth model, and i can tell you, it looked gorgerous in Candy Red met !! Made me think about a Stilo, as iam about to change my car.

Andy.

an 05 plate will have the revised steering rack from the factory as this was issued a year or so ago... so dont woory about that! there's also a front sprign recall but again this should have been done and if not only takes and hour or two as its just a little plate.

The schumachers are nice, esp with the GP kit! get an abarth and then get it remapped! makes a world of difference
