Chaps, I'm going to buy a project or another toy. I have posted a few possibilities, the last being a jensen interceptor that was a bit too much to do, a stag which didn't do it for me, and a tr6 which was marvellous, but a trifle too expensive..

I've always liked early spiders, what about this one? It's right up my street, seller is an enthusiast, as I am, I've had lots of old alfas, and this one has really tickled my fancy.

Any generic bad areas to look for. I don't mind minor stuff, it's an old car, but mechanically ok as far as I'm aware.

What's a good price, and what's the opinion from the alfisti?

Cheers
Mike.

Really nice owner, complete enthusiast who did infact say that he was happy to sell it to me as I knew my stuff and was obviously an alfa buff

(I waffled on about tuning up my old 33 which I blew up hehe)

Apparently the intake roar is heaven. Two twin choke dellorto's under full beans...ears

The interceptor is a different proposition, but needed a full body job. grumpy pockets not big enough...

Seems like a good un on the face of it.
It might be a little tempremental at low speeds with the 45's on, if that matters to you?.
I know of a guy selling a modified spider a few hundred miles further north if the geography is a problem.

I think as long as I'm aware the 45's will need constant fettling then it's ok. He's including the carb balancing set up which works well....

I wasn't particularly looking for a spider really, I like interesting stuff....I'm in Bristol...ears but do like old alfa's and this one caught my eye..

If it's all what he says it seems very good value indeed. I'm surprised though that there is no roll cage or decent seats if it was a hillclimber!!! If it started off life as a UK 2000cc car it should have a LSD back axle - not sure about Hong Kong cars. Worth checking. It will be a pain without. Certainly worth further investigation. Stuart Taylor is the OC 105 guru so he may know the car. You could also ring ClassicAlfa and Alfaholics as he says they have supplied bits for the car. Good luck Mike!!

Not so much tempramental on set up Mike, more that it won't particularly like running smoothly at low revs. It will howl along like a good un from mid range upwards though

ricks got a point about a cage though, a serious Hill climb car ought to have had one really.
