Thinking of a 2.0ts or JTD for my better half and have read that the cambelt can be a problem on petrol cars. I'm wondering if same apllies to the JTD version, or if the cam is driven by idler gears rather than a belt.

No such problems on JTDs - 72k cambelt changes.
JTD is a belter. Even in 8 valve guise it goes well. The 16 valve will outpace the 2.0 all ways round and they do seem stronger and more reliable engines.

Thanks for info, diesel sounding like a winner and good for 45+mpg, just have to find a decent one in price range!
