Good work!

Anyone else notice the back wheels look bigger than the fronts?

How does this effect dynamics on a fwd? Presumably most of the weight is up front anyhow, even when the wheels are of similar size

Saw that thing circulating last week. As it came down the big straight past the public entrance, the driver was ripping the wheel left and right and weaving violently nearly the full length of the straight. Thing stuck like shit to a blanket. Impressive.

I also got to see and hear that Alfa 8C as it sat in the ALfa/Fiat/Lancia compound across the main road.

Luuuuuurrrverly thumbup

The Nurburgring is now my new favoutire place in the whole world. I almost wet my pants there.

MonkeyMatt and I have actually spent far more time discussing the new Abarths over a few pints recently than we have discussing anything else...and I run a TVR business and drive a 'Grale!

Have to say, we both love this thing and I think we are both getting one.

Now then, as I run a bespoke engineering outfit, what would ppl think of a 200BHP, exhaust and brake tweak performed outside of the FIAT dealership, by a bunch of TVR's best gurus? Frankly Ive only got half an eye on doing that for anything like profit, the other half is on doing it entirely for the giggles and I personally want a 200 ponies version of this thing!

Guys you can't compare this to a BMW Mini, it's half the size.

As for 200 BHP conversion, should be cake. Standard form is to be the 150 BHP 1.4 turbo going into the Grande Punto Abarth and in use in the New Bravo on the continent.
At launch the Punto Abarth has +25BHP factory option.
This baby can have 175BHP straight from the dealer.

Power to weight ratio? Ooh yes please!

Flame spitting I was kinda taking for granted to be honest, my business partner is just a little bit of an exhaust guru smile Oi Nervy, if yer reading this, how good did my Sagaris sound? smile

As Jay said, 175 is an option straight from the dealer, I picked 200 because it was a round number really and frankly Abarths have never really been about maximum power, but exploitable fun power. Ive no doubt you could get 250ponies from this thing, but Im not sure Id want for my own car and frankly I fully admit Im incredibly biased in my thinking about what I want from a car! Would ppl want more than 200BHP in this, but lose out in other areas (the cost has to be *reasonable* dont forget, otherwise there is no point) or a relatively mild increase to 200 and beefing up elsewhere also? I know Monkey is thinking *exactly* the same as me (trust me, we've sunk a lot of pints thinking about this pocket rocket!) as to how we'd want this looking, going and handling, so what are other ppls thoughts?

Im hoping Fiat send it out lightweight as standard! They have made all the right noises about this being a proper Abarth, so Im hoping they stick to it. Not much we could really do to lighten the car unfortunately without taking already paid for option goodies away from the customer or charging serious money to lighten the car.

Now there is a thought.

Its a hot Abarth, do you want to keep the restrained ish looks of the factory or a funky style kit to go with the performance upgrade?

i don't want a body kit, i am not fond on body kits. just more go, more noise, a bit of flame, a bit of turbo lag and i will even let you put one of your own stickers on it.

no, seriously, i have decided as a belated birthday present to myself i am going to get one of these next year, and if you do keep drinking beer with monkeymatt and do actually do you tuning jobby with these badgers i will get you to do mine too. (depending on the number of beer tokens you will charge!)

I will have to talk to my business partner first about doing this!

I'm a lifelong Italian car freak and was sold on the idea of the 500 until.....

......I saw one in the flesh last week.

It was on a photoshoot in Italy and I wandered around it several times. I was sold on the pictures, but the more I looked at it I just felt 'Nissan Micra'

I really wanted one of these, but I just think this 500/New Beetle/MINI is a styling dead-end. I might start lusting after a Panda Abarth instead.........

Apparently the Panda 100BHP is a hoot.

Seriously considering taking one for a test drive.

Highly unlikely to buy, just want to know if they live up to the hype.

My wife wouldn't swap her 156 for anything. I've trained her well.biggrin

I have a company repmobile and the 75 - which I wouldn't swap for just about anything else.

If I had the space, I'd buy another Cinq. Sporting.
