Alfa 8C UK public debut

Alfa 8C Competizione debuting at Canary Wharf Motorexpo and Goodwood Festival of Speed

Car enthusiasts and Alfisti wanting to be among the first to view an Alfa 8C Competizione in the UK should head to this year’s Canary Wharf Motorexpo (11-17 June), where this Alfa Romeo sportscar makes its UK public debut.

500 of this limited edition model were snapped up long before the first customer cars turned a wheel, including the 42 examples destined for UK owners early next year.

Priced at close to £110,000, the all-carbon-fibre 450 bhp 4.7 litre V8 powered two-seater is showing at Motorexpo, before it goes on to headline the Alfa Romeo stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month (22-24 June).

Managing Director of Alfa Romeo UK, Christopher Nicoll, says: "This is a perfect example of the new direction for Alfa Romeo on the international stage. The fact that we long ago sold our UK allocation is testament to our rich heritage of producing emotive and exotic performance cars."

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful cars available (or not, as it's sold out) today.

Edited as I posted this at the same time as Zoidberg - great minds and all that...

Really? I'm stunned. To me it's automotive art- and it just makes me want to pull up a chair alongside one so I can look at it all day.

I think the rear three quarters view is a little heavy and slightly reminiscent of the Bristol Fighter....which is unfortunate. However the front view in the first picture looks lovely. Haven't seen one in the flesh but overall, I think its a pretty car.

I think the panned photograph showing the 3/4 view of the car is just stunning.

The body does look a little cumbersome in the other pictures, but I think this is a machine that needs to be seen in the flesh before one can decide one way or the other.

All things considered, I think this might be the one "new" car I would have above all others at this moment in time.

I just hope it goes as well as it looks. Would be a tragedy if it didn't.

As much as it pains me to say this, I really, really, really like it! I'm not usually a 'pro' Italian car fan, but that's just beautifyl. Can't wait till the FoS...

Alfa seems to have nabbed all the best bits of all the gorgeous models doing the rounds at the mo and by some miracle managed to combine all those ingredients into something totally gorgeous. A spot of Aston, dash of Ferrari, a touch of TVR and a pinch of Bugatti i think. I want!

I really dont understand Alfa on this car. Why is it limited to 500? Its not an uber supercar that costs them billions to make, so why limit it? Anyone know if its a serious loss maker????

Ferrari always said, "work out how many you can sell, and build one less". I think Alfa could sell 30,000 of these, even at over 100k. So why dont they? Do they really think we're all going to rush out and buy 159's just because we might think its a real alternative to an 8c ?

One other point. Always thought Alfa engines looked sexy. Got the dolly bird at the Genevea Motorshow to open the rather sexy looking bonnet to show us the engine. Got her to close it again rather quickly, as it was a bit of a minger visually....

Stunning looking car, but what went wrong with the interior?! A less cluttered interior and building 1000's of them for £70-£80k and they'd be onto a serious winner!

Overall though, it's still a real head turner!

ETA: not counting the stereo and vents it's easy to count over 20 buttons and dials... which compared to the grace and lines of the exterior is a touch confusing. Still stunning though!

Could lead to a population explosion.....

The interior looks better than that really if you get better pictures.

I hope to be able to view the car at Expo, probably cant make Goodwood.

As for numbers and price, well, because they can sell them all at the price they want! Putting it down at £70k = sales nicked from Maserati. There is I understand it a little more to the story than just 500 8C cars being made, but thats a little *cough*ahem* territory.
