Anybody thinking this car is ugly or wants a dodgy lookalike to be built in a shed on a corvette chassis, should either go back to their gaming console and "fastish and tasteless" dvd, or buy a Prius. They deserve it. IMHO of course.
I wonder how those will keep their value, 'cause there is a big chance I'd be buying one ;-)

Actually word is out they'll build a new Alfa "Junior" to fill the gap left by the 147 (149 will grow a size), designed to look like a mini 8C.I wonder what the value of an 8c will be in 5 years time

No, I'm honest, I don't appreciate replicas( but I admire very often all the handcrafting ability of people who can create an almost perfect copy, which is so close to the original that it could have been rolled down the production line of the original car.)...I just buy the LotusGroup, Bertone and the rights for the DeTomaso (and perhaps TVR )brand and the little company called Tech2Reality. Let develop a new Detomaso Vallelunga, a new Pantera, new Mangusta, new Deauville and new Longchamp(as coupe, and roadster)with some "retro-design cues" and rework of the Guara by LotusEngineering and Bertone (not at the same time of course, just step by step). The new Vallelunga could be based on the same platform as the Elise-successor. All DeTomasos with Ford engines and/or Cosworth developed engines. ('cos Detomaso used always Ford engines, but in the 90's they started to build BMW engines in the Guara). But as a option BMW, Audi, MB engine or a new to be developed engine for some models(only if the whole venture is viable and the customer aren't satisfied with the range of V8s). Which would be very uniqe in the world : Not "one" engine, but a range of different V8 engines to chose from ...e.g. a new Pantera with such engine options...(just imagine a new Pantera with the Ford engine, used in this yellow Ford GT Targa
concept car with 750 hp...yummmmy). The DeTomaso cars could be build at Bertone and Lotus could expand their facilities to build TVRs. (The TVRs could be based on Lotus-Detomaso-Bertone technology. Just three models : 1.An entry sports car with V6 engine (as option BMW, Audi and/or some other V6 engines, e.g. an new to be developed V6-hybrid engine with 350-400hp. Tech2Reality has some knowledge in "hybrid-technolgy". They fiddeled around with hybrid-conversions some years ago), mid-engined, as coupe and roadster for the US-market, especially the hybrid-version (first marketing idea : give some US-celebs one car for free, e.g. give Mr. Schwarzenegger a shiny new TVR with hybrid-engine. Idea behind : "The most undecent way of driving an environment-friendly car"
. 2. A big sports car, V8 engine (again engine options :BMW, Audi..etc.) for gentleman-driver (yes for those guys with brown leather gloves, Ion-Tiriac-moustache, big sun glasses, golden chains, chest hair and a Rolex Oyster)as coupe and roadster 3.A Coupe-esque four door saloon/sedan....with V8's (based on the new Detomaso Deauville)... all TVRs with manual box and for the US-models auto-box as an option.And some gaps to fill in the Lotus model line up...e.g. a new small roadster (working title :Elan)
..I just have to look how much money I find in my pockets....err...there's a button...another button...a shoe...and a cheque of 6 billion pounds... no, there's no money...
Let's come back to the Alfa 8C : You all forget one point : Every car collector is a just human beeing and will later die or will be too old and will sell all his cars...or his children will sell the cars in order to raise some cash...Therefore: all 8Cs will change hands in the next years....and it will not take a long time till we all see one of these 8Cs on "wrecked exotics"....Or someone will put his beloved 8C in a shed/barn...and 20-30 years later someone else will find this car...and the big chase for "barn-finds" (like in the good and golden 80s) will begin again...
About time alfa woke up to the fact, that it has a huge history an herritage, what alpha need is more of these type of cars added to a normal range that should all be rear wheel drive an high on the sporty factor.
A real waste of a badge is all i can say about the efforts (with a 1 or exceptions) of the car's that have come out of the factory for the past 2 decades. The current brera or whatever it's called is another fine example, pretty (alpha do pretty very well) but everything else is total rubbish, they have solved the poor build quality critisms by having it weigh something like 2 tons!, so solve one problem create another, good work!, an now you have a bloated 4 wheel drive behmoth with 260hp that weights around 1800kg.
The brera looks nice, is it really so hard for alfa to engineer a RWD car that weights 1500kp with the same looks an engine lineup?, I mean then the 260hp car would be geniunly fast an the 2litre might actually be a bit sporting too, rather than the current mobile chicane of the sports car world. BMW have RWD down to a tee an as a result they occupy the postion alfa did in the 60s, minus the great looks though.....

I'd say (again) that it looks like a modernised Alfa TZ2 from the 1960s. If there are similarities, perhaps it's the TVR and Aston that lack originality?bencollins "Does make those hand built TVR's look good value now as well."
I too was devasted when 8C price was released. I would have ordered one if it was in the 911 price range.
TVR does seem cheap by comparison, but does that make it good value? Speak to owners with the (TVR designed and built) speed six engines. The V8 models have more development work and might be around longer.

. The pictures really dont do it justice. The interior as well was amazing (got the dolly bird to snap the inside as you couldn't get to touchThe Alfa girls were of the best in show as well
Well just seen it in the flesh at Canary Wharf, and all I can say is it's the dogs dangleys, and it's in black too, looks stunning and the pictures really don't seem to do it justice. Supprisingly there seemed to be more interest - or at least people milling around the R8 than this. The R8's a nice car, this is in a different league
Yup - love it.
The car looks absolutely gorgeous, love short, stumpy rear end and, not so sure about the front lights having seen them properly, although I am sure I could put up with them! The black looks fabulous, but would love to see it in red.
Couldn't help a sneak to the Morgab stand also - and that sounded great when it was started up!!

What a beauty! I work in Canary Wharf and all im saying is that car is probably without a doubt (maybe aside from the Gallardo Sypder having drven a Murcielago a few weeks ago) the best car at the Expo - its simply stunning!
Maybe Alfa have finally woken up and are doing all they can to assert themselves as credible manufacturers?!?
