What a cool thread! I take far too many pictures of my cars, but here is one of my favourites........
And before anyone asks, no it isn't a Diesel!!! 3.2 all the way (albeit with a knackered alternator at the moment)

GT is definitely on my want list, although im currently rather happy with the compactness of a 147

Breras are growing on me. The 147... I had a go in a 147 1.6 and did not like it at all. Maybe it was that car I dunno. Bought a new Punto instead. Amazingly that handles better. It needs 4 same tires though.
I suspect something was rather wrong with that particular 147, ive driven some (grande) puntos and two mitos (which use the punto platform), and they dont handle handle as well as a 147, in my personal opinion. the mito/punto always felt narrow and high, and the rear would want to step out when hitting even a small bump in a long high speed corner (such as motorway junction overpasses)Im not sure if my current 147 will make it there, but i do want to own a properly sorted 147 at some point, but given the age of mine, im not sure if investing the money to put it entirely right is a good idea, might just keep it serviceable for 2 years and then get a much younger one with a faster engine
My current GT & the 156 it replaced...
The 156 (2.0 TS Veloce) was solid & immaculate, I'd still be driving it if an errant BMW-ist hadn't ploughed into the back of me at a zebra crossing...it could have been repaired but would not have been the same car to me so along came the GT earlier than planned.
The GT is course a filthy diesel and all the better for it, some mild tinkering has made it very satisfying to drive...aside from a bit of clutch slip!

Is it the 2.4 diesel? Mine already had a remap and the clutch slips occasionally but it's really intermittent and I can't figure what the circumstances are that cause it. e.g. one day, full throttle third gear pulls perfectly, next day full throttle third gear clutch slips a lot.
The GT only has the 1.9 16v diesel, either in 150 or 170hp form. The GT is very 147 based, so im guessing they didnt have the stuff available to easily fit a 2.4 in there with stock parts.Gassing Station | Alfa Romeo, Fiat & Lancia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
