Check your facts, the beta range, except for the Montecarlo were designed by Lancia. They used the Fiat twin cam as it was readily available, and made more sense than designing a whole new power train, and it allowed them to get the Beta range into production sooner, and the only component of the early Beta engine (saloon being the first) that was interchangeable with the Fiats was the short block, all the other components were designed especially. The Beta coupe was certainly designed by the same designers (Pietro Castagnero and Aldo Castagno) as the Fulvia coupe. Just because a few of the bolts have Fiat stamped into them doesn't mean they're Fiats. The only reason the Montecarlo had a Lancia badge was that they could sell it for more than with a Fiat badge. It was supposed to replace the X-1/9, so you could almost be allowed to get away with that one, even though it was a Pininfarina design.

yes indeed. worms absolutely everywhere! Fiats are badge engineered Lancias Lancia continued to be quite original until the mid nineties, though from then on they have become re-badged Fiat blobs unfortunately

I just never understood the beef people have against component sharing. The Stratos had Lights, switches, door locks, steering column etc from FIAT yet most seem to point to the Ferrari engine. So what was it? It was a Lancia. Early Lotus Esprit used door handles off a Marina. That stopped a friend of mine from buying one He bought a later model, the series 3 with interior features from a Cavalier. As long as the final product is true to the marque it really doesn't matter, if the final product leaves us feeling betrayed then that is the fault of the overall product not any individual component. Now, anyone here got pics of Lancias? Mine is a fake, but I will try and get some pictures if I get to Brooklands at the weekend anyway

I've just changed PC or I'd have more photos. Although the Montecarlo was originally destined to be sold as the 'Fiat X1/20', rather than be built by Lancia or Fiat, it was built in-house at Pininfarina. There are photos on the Montecarlo.net website, showing it coming off the line, I believe.

Don't forget ford escort rear lights on the Jag XJ220 EVERYONE platform shares, and it makes perfect sense as long as they tweak the platform approriately for their marque - if it means I pay less for the car and it's more reliable as a result, so much the better (Says the proud owner of a badge engineered fiat punto )

Would love to decorate my 8v like that, have always thought it looks fantastic, but scared it might make it a target for the boy racers. And might be a bit over the top for a daily driver down here. Maybe I'll just go with the lights

I had her liveried up 4 days before we travelled down to San Marino for www.rallylegend.com in 2008 and Miki Biasion autographed the roof . She does draw attention, but the right type thankfully. This livery isn't quite as well known as the normal Martini livery, but I think that it really does suit the red cars.

I've seen your videos on youtube, looks fantastic. Oh actually I'm a subscriber! And pics via lancia sport, I know a friend of Nick Lukey (Nick said he knew you after I posted one of your vids for my friends to see on facebook) down here in NZ who's been very helpful. If you don't mind what were the decals worth? Did you have them made especially?

As for the decals, yes, I had them made to order by a company in Rhyl (Nth Wales) and cost £280. Pubblimais (who where responsible for the works cars) can now supply the San Remo livery http://www.pubblimais.it/adesivirally.english.htm
