Oliver’s Dad, love the Zagato in white. Regarding the rust, there is a rubber strip between the front inner and out wings. Can cause trouble and the wisdom used to be to remove it. I forget what was done instead to seal the gap.
I expect you already know this!
Thanks for the info I didn’t know about the strip, is the rubber strip top, bottom, front or rear of the front wings?I expect you already know this!
The strip is going from front to rear. It’s a bit of a bodge job by Zagato to create a seam. Lots of dirt, mud, etc. sticks to the strip and can hold moisture.
Jack the car up and remove the wheel to get your head in there and all will be revealed. Fibre glass could work but the Lancia Club will have folk with better ideas or the specialist garages. Richard Thorn etc.
My cars suffered in this area and no doubt could’ve been prevented. They just weren’t constructed for the UK salty Winters.
I’ve definitely got the Zagato itch and been drawn again to the Alfa Junior Zagato. Late 70’s I almost bought one from an Italian chap (name/tip of tongue) who ran their club. Got the Fulvia version though. The Alfa prices now are as high as the Fulvias and unfortunately I can’t afford both.
