Well, that's probably no more than a 3hp motor, the gearbox might have an issue with 110bhp of V twin lumpiness being pumped through it.
To retain the original fiat diff you'd have to remove it from the transaxle anyway, and mount it in some kind of custom made frame. Wouldn't it be easier to just use something like a Freelander (or Sierra, BMW/MX5 etc) diff and get custom driveshafts made?

Might there be room to couple a diff directly to the bike engine (via some kind of cush drive) if you had a V-Twin?

Mounting the engine on top of the diff with the chain going down to the sprocket on the prop' end? A bit like this... ...MS Paint rules!

There's not enough room in the front for that so how about mounting the engine in the back with a prop' shaft going to an identical front diff' that has a reverse motor mounted on it?

This arrived yesterday... ...the car pobably had a failed manifold gasket looking at the amount of radweld build up... ...high pressure airline took care of that. How hard can it be?

Errrr one small but significant point. Won't all the water just p*ss out of holes where the water jackets used to be when you bastardise the manifold?

Planning to either weld a small water pipe in place with a "T" piece for the interior heater matrix or bin the heater matrix completely and just have a length of pipe connecting the inlet and outlet ports of the manifold instead.

So I did a test weld on the manifold with one of the Aluminium welding rods I was given by a chap at work. A compbination of poor quality subject metal, 130A when you need at least 150A and moist atmosphere resulted in this... So I think I'll be using the flat bar of Aluminium and maybe chipping the flux off the rods so I can use them as filler for my T.I.G welder. I've drawn a rough outline already but will wait until I can get a manifold gasket set before I make the base. Having to use the bar adds a whole £8 to the budget.

The low temperature alloy "welding" rods might be useful here, the ones that you often see being flogged at car shows. You can weld using just a propane gas torch because the rod material lowers the overal melting point of the alloy. It's not too difficult to use either, I managed to get pretty neat results with a bit of practice. Not as strong as a real weld, but still a very strong joint that should be more than up to the job of an inlet manifold. e.g. like this stuf, or this stuff.

Thanks for that. I have some 0.8mm Aluminium M.I.G wire somewhere (either in my shed or loft). I've never been a fan of M.I.G welding Aluminium but I can tack with the M.I.G and T.I.G the rest.

Crappy update today I'm affraid. My T.I.G welder is a prety good paperweight and the Bowden on my M.I.G welder is too cacked up to run softer Aluminium wire through. So the manifold will have to wait a while longer then. I have however ordered a Punto GT handbrake lever so I'll be able to get that set up soon at least.

I did buy a manifold gasket today... ...drew around it... ...and the base plate is ready to cut out.

Merry Christmas Guff racer from me... ...it arrived last week but only found it today. I'll be needing this bit... ...and make it fit the Cinquecento lever. I'm using a washer... ...so's not to damage the bracket I've found a coach bolt the same size and another washer to hold it in place. (after the Queens speech) I cleaned up the washer and lever enough to weld together... ...and we now have a Cinquecento lever that will accept a pair of Punto GT handbrake cables. I've retrofitted the lever to the car and will plumb the cables in tomorrow morning. Edited for speeling moistaches due to Jack Daniels.
