Sol my 200SX this morning. The buyer came down from Northern Ireland to Exeter and is now driving it all the way home! Anyways as soon as I got home I bought this with the money. Although a little more expensive than the others I saw it was owned by a friend and I was happy to pay a bit more for a car with a full MOT I knew hadn't been abused or bodged. It's a 1.6 import with air con, lsd, Bilsteins and a Jasma 4 branch. Plan is to keep it pretty much as it is except for a decent exhaust and wheels. Those horrible washers and single wiper are going, plus I think it will look nicer with a spoiler. Have just taken it for a blast and am absolutely hooked, the only car I can remember as being this enjoyable was the original Mini bounce. Best of all, the fuel gauge barely moved and it didn't give the impression something was about to break. Just some quick pictures

Already been caught in the rain with the roof down. The rear window is new, but has a fog line where it folds - should it do that? Oh and big thanks to the chap in the sheddy Fiat for providing the first 'poofer' comment!

Will look good when you get the new wheels. Has it had a new front bumper?

Good choice, sir!

I'm one of the convertees, i.e. 6 months ago I thought the MX5/Eunos was an underpowered girlie car, but now have a Bilstein'd Eunos S-Spec to rag around in after I saw the light.

Mine came with a Mazda rear-wing; I reckon it makes the car look less like a bar of soap.

The fogging/crease in the rear window is due to a previous owner putting the hood down without first unzipping the rear plastic and laying it flat.

ALWAYS unzip the rear screen before you drop the hood.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, looks pretty tidy. Why not have a look at Rota Wheels for some bigger, nicer wheels, without the sacrifice of a lot more weight. Give it a go!

I have looked at Rota wheels but nothing there has really caught my eye, want to get away from the minilite style as it's just so common. I'm tempted by some Compomotive TS's but they might be a bit too expensive.

I was told not to unzip the screen, as if the zip goes then it's a fortune to replace. Bumper hasn't been resprayed either, it's a trick of the light

upzip the screen.... not heard of the zip going... and a new roof is less than £300 to replace with a mohair one.

I've had a zipped rear screen for 3 years no problems smile

t-cut/basso on the rear hood.
won't make it perfect, but will certainly help.
just hope it hasn't gone brittle frown

Good shout fella,
I have recently got one for me and the missus for a weekend toy, and its great caper!
Re the fuel gauge barely moving, really? Mine drops quicker than Pat Butchers ear lobes when I'm thrashing it!!

(Mine is also the 1.6 Import, on a G plate......)

Always unzip the screen but you'll still got a 'fog line' on the plastic if you don't use the tonneau as the hood sits on it. As the car jiggles around you get little scratches in the screen eventually turning into fog.

Renovo sorts it without a problem though. It's an excellent product and well worth the price.

With the MX-5, it is critical to have light wheels. Heavy wheels ruin the sweet handling. I would suggest going up to 15" wheels max with that car. Maybe something from this lot

How about a set of these from their site? £350 for set of 4 15"x6.5"

Quite a few of these are popping up around here with large cheap (heavy) wheels and horrible Lexus lights. Tempted to get one myself when I've got somewhere to keep it.

I love the look of these with hard tops and last time I checked you can pick them up for slightly under £1k (although that was 3 years ago).

Nice chioce, keep the car simple thumbup

If you unzip the rear window you can buy a cover to zip round the unzipped rear window (makes sense if you read it twice)

OR

use a lenght of pipe insulation to make a gentle fold instead of a crease

vinyl roofs are easy to use and keep looking good mohair less and IMO, along with a spoiler, don't suit MX-5s

Wow, did you think that one up all by yourself? Must've made your obviously massive brain work so hard you've forgotten how to spell. So, enlighten me, what do you drive round in?

Anyways, those horrible chrome washers have gone, ordered another wiper arm and am looking into putting the fog light in the middle. I do like those Rota, luckily I also know someone who supplies them which should make it a bit cheaper. I am absolutely loving every minute of driving this car - it's like being back behind the wheel of your first car again. Doesn't matter that it isn't that quick, it's so much fun you won't care.

nice purchase.

my missus has taking to hating them so much, that she'd rather buy a KA than ever have one. so i keep on winding her up about them. id really love her to have a go in one and then watch her realise how good they are.
