997 FACELIFT - UPDATE
Discussion
Just been at Porsche this morning...gleaned/blagged this from them: -
Deposits (3-5K) now being unofficially taken for 997 Facelift car - for AUGUST 2008 Delivery.
1. DDI injection S models with standard 380 BHP, standard carerra now upto 350 BHP.
2. New Rear Light clusters, slightly narrower with LED lights.
3. New Rear Bumper/PU (think this has been well documented).
4. New Front Bumper/PU again this seems to be well known.
5. New Headlights.
6. New Standard and Optional Alloys.
7. New Touchscreen SAT Navigation System & Bluetooth
8. New DASH, apparently completely reworking of the Interior...more options
Last build slot for current 997 is April 2008. Apparently Porsche GB/Reading have a new car with
some or all of the above, under wraps for evaluation/feedback (their words not mine!)

I pity the fools that Paid £8k for that upgrade for the 997S.........thats if anyone actually did pay for it.
Hopefully the price wont increase too much as i am starting to think that paying £75-£80k for a fully specced 997S/Targa/Convertible is a bit of a joke.
P.S. I guess a BMW 135 coupe(ugly little thing) coming standard with 300bhp made Porsche wake up and smell the coffee.

I got more or less the same message from my OPC when i put my £3k down last week. Basically they gave me three options. Take a pre-built car they had kicking around in Reading, Take what they claimed to be the last C2s build slot for April build / May delivery. Or wait for a DFI car in August/September.
997 turbo face lift prototype winter testing.

DSG floppy thing or Manual, Tiptronic to go!!
What is the DSG floppy thing? Flappy padel? Having looked at used Targas, now thinking of 997 S cabriolet (2006/7) but thinking maybe I should go for a new facelift jobby - or wait until 998 launch. Doing my head in! Which way to go?I heard that Tip will continue for a while, as it's really just an auto-box and particularly popular in the US.
The new 'paddle shift' is obviously a manual gearbox with an electronically actuated clutch and gear selection system and may have more appeal to traditional manual customers.

I wonder if the TT will get the same new interior, gearbox options and direct injection? I hope the keep the GT1 inspired engine in the TT.
Am told that Turbo is keeping Tip and NOT getting DSG for the foreseeable.....Apparently the VW/Audi developed DSG system can't cope with the TTs power yet and needs more development - that's why you also can't get the DSG system in the Audi RS4 but can in the S4.
