Hi all,
Have had some work done on my car recently, which required the seats and seatbelt reels to be removed. Ever since, the seat belt reels have been doing that annoying locking up thing, where you suddenly find your wearing a racing harness that won't move rather than an inertia reel.

It's getting to the point now where I can't even reel it out to put it on sometimes. Seems to be worse if the car is parked on a hill.

Can the reels be adjusted so that they aren's as sensitive ?

Cheers,
Matt

Sometimes it can just be that they are not postioned correctly. Check that they are fixed level as the slightest degree of tilt will lock them up.

I put a washer behind mine after refitting it helps the belt from rubbing on the carpet causing it to lock.
Check the angle make sure the belt is as vertical as you can get it.
Very sensitive.

Hi Matt
had the same problem with mine last week.
I used a 17mm spanner to loosen off the the reel and moved it slightly to a new position and now works fine but I couldn't even pull the seatbelt out when on my drive which is on a slope.
haven't seen you for a while you must be busy.

Thought I may as well post my seat belt issue here...
My passenger seat belt is very limp at reeling back in, is there anything I can do for it or do I need a new one?
Cheers,

Rich

Doesn't seem like anyones got a sensible solution then.
It's not that bad actually, just have to help it overcome all that friction the leather creates occasionally wink
