Exhaust sleeves
Discussion
Sleeved mine on Saturday.
Used the Demon Tweeks 51mm O/D tube cut into 400mm lengths, used the left over tube for tapping the sleeves home.
Soaked the joints for 18 hours in WD40 but still could not get the silencers off. Twisted them, pulled them, swore at them, tapped them with a wooden mallet, clouted the joint with a hammer and chisel, swore some more and still they would not budge.
Decided to tap the sleeves in with the silencers in situ. Not a problem. The off side was tighter than the near side. Gentle tapping drove them home.
There is a noticable difference, not so much at tick over, there is more of a growl during acceleration and pops and bangs when throttling back.
The Misses asked "What was banging when we arrived at Chatsworth today." "Pops and bangs, thats how a TVR shold sound" was the reply. So if my Misses notices a difference there must be one!
Well worth doing in my opinion.
Cheers

Late addition to this thread in case anyone searches sleeving.
Excellent guide by T66ORA here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... which I started to follow until I encountered difficulty in removing the cans. Out of curiosity I tried sliding the pipe in with the cans in situ and it worked with just a little jiggery and light taps with a soft mallet.
If you get lucky like this you might want to do what I did and put a screw in each side (at the top so it can't be seen) to be on the safe side though. If it went in easily it occurred to me it might come out the same.
