I would like to propose that the Nissan Deltawing represents the most exciting and relevant development in motorsport for many years…

I like it. In all aspects.

If they develop the concept, I don't see why F1 couldn't take on an evolution of it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how it does on track. I've read the stuff about centres of mass and roll centres but I can't shake the feeling that it'll understeer like a Morris Marina on ice.

I wish them well, racing needs different, interesting cars and ideas. The world would be a poorer place without Chapparals and six-wheeled Tyrells.

And the Marussia F1 car isn't actually a Marussia but they pay enough money to allow it to be called that!

There is an interesting feature on it in this months issue of Racecar Engineering. I think it's great and I can't wait to see it competing at Le Mans

Definitely an interesting project and good to see they are taking it seriously.

It looks like a progression along the Radical theme to me, which is no bad thing.

It seems a bit Reliant Robin-esque but I guess with the weight concentrated at the rear there is no need for a wide front end.

I think I picked a good year for returning to Le Mans (last went in 06). Delta wing, Toyota hybrids, Audi AWD Diesel Hybrid and Aston Martin Works Vantage GTEs biggrin

My biggest "wtf" is how it doesn't understeer everywhere, the weight distribution must be insanely biased towards the rear.

This post, is the equivalent waste of pistonhead space, to the waste of the LM number 56 spot is to the stupid Deltawing project. I'm sure there is a far more relevant hybrid out there that could have taken the grid placing.

It will be an enbarrasment, and, if it runs, which I think, unfortunately it will, it'll be a mobile and very dangerous chicane. I know LM award the 56 spot to innovation, but this time they've just been, well, French.

Whilst we are all entitled to our opinions I don't think that yours are correct. About the only things it's likely to hold up is the odd LMP1 car here and there whilst it mixes with LMP2.

The people behind this car aren't new to the game but do bring something new to the table.

There were other contenders for the 56th garage but none were as radical and both Toyota and Audi have hybrids fairly well covered for this year.

I don't like it, I don't want to seem them racing. I don't want them to be the future of anything, Its ugly and its so far off (In image, which is ultimately what matters when you're watching something) what we drive its not really a car.

I don't want that.

Neither is your opinion correct.

Rubbish, there is no way that car will mix it with the LMP2's, and no way it will be nothing but a liability. Have you seen any of the shake down vids from Sebring, it's as slow as a galcier, doesn't matter how much Nissan get behind it.

The ACO are well known for wanting to bring one new technology to the 24hrs, and in typical french type style, regardless of whether it worked or not, they were wetting their bagette, when the Deltawing concept was pitched to them. They, the French, were going to introduce it to the racing world, regardless.

The Toyota and AUDI hybrids are in a different league, in case you haven't noticed.

I am looking forward to seeing the car compete. I really want to see how it fares against another car of similar power and weight to see whether the aerodynamic and potential fuel economy advantages touted outweigh the benefits that a wide track will have on cornering speed.
