dont know if this is a repost but interesting result www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoI7IkrrQDU
Now i'm no driver for sure, but the way that NSX eat up the Tuscan after coming out of that corner suggested that all was not quite what we are led to beleive in that vid.Sure the Honda was a fabulous handling car for sure, but the TVR would have had to be running on three cylinders to get eaten that quickly under acceleration.
Unless of couse, the drivers were in a different league?

The NSX is not standard and the vid is to promote Honda.
A Tuscan would out drag a standard NSX.
They're good these Jap videos, aren't they?
So whats this vid all about then, what was its purpose? What comments do we reckon they're making about the bolts in the footwell?
And... not being funny, but I'd love to know what the Japanese engineers make of TVR. Do the engineers literally fall about in pieces laughing at the build quality, or do they shake their heads and marvel at how such a small company can make such outrageous cars?
I can imagine that TVR would have quite a following in Japan, and then I wonder why doesn't a Japanese company come out with a similar car, after all its a fairly simple formula. The Jap engineering ethos is fantastic IMO. Mazda did a great job in building the best ever British roadster (MX5), wonder if one day a Japanese company will build the best ever British sportscar by building a TVR the Japanese way.

From a standing start, but we can see the Tusc struggling to put the power down, and the NSX clearly has better traction out of the corners, as well as possibly a higher corner speed.

Or are they commenting that the Tiv has a built in heel rest in the footwell, which is really good?

this has been shown so many times before, the NSX ain't standard, do a search.
Yes,
It's not a bog standard NSX-R, it's got Bridgestone trackday tyres,
If the TVRs had been on trackday tyres as well, the souped up jap bat would have had no chance.
Trackday tyres make a very very very big difference.

But Honda sold it with those tyres on, much like BMW did with the CSL.
If you think the NSX was 'souped up' could you please give me the full spec and what was done and by who?
Wether the Honda is sold with those tyres on or not it is still not a fair comparison, sticky tires make a massive difference on track
Good video, and amusing to see my fellow TVR owners getting all defensive about being beaten by the NSX-R, but that doesn't surprise or disappoint me at all - every car mag raved about this car, and the Type R tweaks did seems to raise it to a different level. I imagine it has quite a track-biased setup, and would not be as useable an everyday proposition as the standard NSX, but no doubting it is a great car.
What was much more interesting for me, and what seems to be getting completely ignored by the Tuscan and Cerb owners who usually like to argue their cars are the fastest and baddest, is the fact the Tamora thrashed them both off the start, and then left them both for dead on the circuit, while they both messily scrapped over last place
But what happened to the Tam before the end? It just slowed right down and let the 2 sloppy slower Tiv's through?

I believe it broke.
Sorry
I'm sorry but this video is on Best Motoring japan's version of top gear the whole point of the show is where they test standard cars from the manufacturers in a series of tests, (acceleration, braking, single lane driving and finally a head to head on the circuit to see what happens) the same production company also make a program called Hot version where "modified" cars are put through their paces in shootouts and touge's. if the Honda was modified it would be on that program not best motoring.
.... to really shake it up, the driver of the NSX gan san drives the NSX-R regularly in shoot outs as they use it as a benchmark.

Remember, this is in Japan - and the NSX driver was probably very experienced with the NSX-R (or similar VTEC type Honda things). Put a decent Tuscan racer driver in any of the TVRs and they would probably be evenly matched. Plus I don't think this was actually a real race.
2 summers ago I was near Trier, Germany, heading towards Belgium in the T350. 2 up, full of luggage, but vvv light on fuel (had problems getting fuel soon after). Anyway, this German registered NSX comes flashing past on a really quiet motorway (East a bit, then North from Trier), one up - amusingly the driver looked a bit 60s disco mullet stylee. Anyway, the NSX sounded lovely, and was obviously tweaked (exhaust at least) and out for a sunny Sunday blast. As is customary I gave chase. He slowed for a looonnngg bend joining 2 motorways, and as we came 'onto the straight' I was 'in the zone' coming out of the bend a few hundred metres behind him. He floored it and it took me longer than I expected to haul him in. I wasn't bothered about passing, and we were both doing 130mph ish before I lifted and followed for a bit, then he got a phone call and slowed down and we zoomed past. Nice car, quick too. An NSX-R would have been very hard to catch.

All of what you stated is common knowledge.
Why are you sorry?
