Have just made these for myself , if enough interest will make a few sets and flog em.....just had to get away from that cheap plastic moulded knobs in my car , made these from solid 312 stainless steel , only down side no light but light still reflects around knob....but i think it gives a much better and classer look...

A big improvement.
07 and possibly earlier have similar from new.
It amazes me how people like yourself have the skills and time etc etc to do such things.

Looks great Tony, Will have to pay a visit to Rick's (When all the snows cleared off). Would be interested in purchasing a set.

I think they're a big improvement Tony. I like the chamfer off that echos the clock bezel.

Absolutely love those. My MY07 already has the metal knobs (although tony's are far nicer) , but would love a pair for the stereo so the consul looks more tied in and less "bitty".

Wow! That does look well.

-Is it possible to self-fit them? For mere plebs that is.

easy to fit.....just have to remove plastic ones...rub down holding pieces from inner plastic , glue into new stainless knobs and push back into place....the only thing to be careful of is making sure you turn all dials to far left to line up dots......easy peezy....

Does the gear know light up? If not I'd machine a nice selector pattern inset too.

Nice job Tony!

It was my old set of matt-finsh metal dials (MY07)that Rick borrowed to forward to you!
I'd seen the MY08 bright finish controls (plus gear surround)and thought they really lifted the fascia.
(Luckily Rick sourced the very last set as AM had reverted back to the aluminium ones)

They utterly transform it when replacing plastic ones though!
I'm sure you'll have a fair few orders...

PS; Definitely interested in the music console control buttons!
Will you be able to "etch" the logos too?

Hi Tony,

Have you thought about drilling a small 1/8th hole through the caps where the dot is and then insert a small plastic dowel which will then be illuminated.

This is how the GT alloy knobs are done and it works very well.. Once you source the correct Diameter of plastic and match a drill to it, should be rather easy to do.

However with that said, I do not know what is behind these knobs on the DB9 so unsure of how the illumination works on them.

If it's like all previous Astons (db7 etc) then it would work.

as they are made from solid 312 stainless....and i'm trying to keep costs down , it would mean me milling out the entire back for a little light....which it does not need...as the light fitment remains...so the outside edge lights up....

Right.... the GT types are simply drilled right through and pick the light up from the back of the knob.

If it had been a ring behind the knob that illuminated then a single hole would have transmitted the light to effectively light the dot on the knob.

Any chance of a photo of the centre panel "Without" the knobs fitted? Just for my own curiosity.

Who makes the buttons on these, am thinking of adding one to switch fuse 22, and want it to look like a factory fit

Very nice work Tony, I would be interested in the audio controls if you make them

And of course the audio knobs don't light up anyway, so that makes them less of a problem.
