So, Cat has the munchies real bad for some fish and chips but being completely fussy about where she wants to eat them from, she has decided that they have to be from the seaside...rolleyes

Anyway, this got me thinking, this is a the perfect excuse for a convoy to the seaside! driving

All I need from you guys is to tell me where the best coast get the fish and chips from is and I shall try and work out a route involving no motorways!

Oh, and let me know what date is preferrable for people too!

Happy now Cat?!

Great excuse for a run! laugh

Dunno where you get the best fish and chips - Brighton perhaps?

I did a good run starting in Hampshire to Brighton once. Can't remember the route at all though - (went along the Hogs Back at one point)

The Lotus guys have been doing "fish and chip" runs to the South Coast for some years.

South Coast, definitely, from this area anyway. Now all you need is a local resident's recommendation for a really good chip shop.

There used to be a little stall selling crab and chips on the beach in Beer. Bit far though. 180 odd miles from High Wycombe.

Sounds like a laugh to me, count me in as long as I'm not busy.

I can think of a good fish and chips place, it does however mean going to cape cod in the US. hehe

I didnt nick the idea off the lotus guys, promise!

I have been to selsey and South Sea a few times, but I'm not entirely sure what the fish and chips are like as I didnt have them when I got there. Anyhow, I do agree that the south coast is the best place to go from this area.

I'll try and find out from a local and get back to you guys!

Strangely enough I've never been that bothered by fish 'n' chips. Oh don't get me wrong I like a nicely battered cod and chips but it's sometimes so hard to find decent fish and chips that I don't bother. Now if you're talking curries.. Oh yeah. I know the odd one or two decent curry houses.

A quick thought.. I've heard that there's a good chippy in Watlington. I haven't tried it though so don't hold me to that.. But!.... Plenty of very hoonable roads around there.

Editted to add Watlington... Doh! Put down Wallingford before

I'm in - know some great routes too.

A338 from Hungerford to Bournemouth is good, but what might be better for us is this...

Outward journey:
B3349 from Reading (M4 jnc 11) to Hook (M3 jnc 5) then continue B3349 to Alton.
Hop on A31, then A32 to Fareham
Then jump on the M27 to Havant, and down onto Hayling Island.
Lovely place for fish and chips on the beach where we've been for Pie on the Beach before.

Return journey:
A27 Havant to Chichester
A286 towards Midhurst
Then the beautiful B2141 to Petersfield (worth the detour, trust me)
A272 to Midhurst
A286 to Haslemere
A287 to Farnham
A331 to M3 junc 4

Just my £0.02

Do you mean the pub? "Inn On The Beach" or is there somewhere more "chippy" like?

The pub's pretty OK grub wise (had its meals a couple of times) and it has a nice outside seating area where you can eat, enjoy an ale, and stare at the sea.

Yeah, well agree the pubs is nice for location and okay for food, but there are a few places nearby (towards the funfair) where you can get proper chippy style fish and chips too.

I think that was the Sunday morning run from Fleet to Brighton... Great route with some fast twisties and some slow traffic because we didn't leave early enough! Couldn't repeat the route though - just enjoyed the well paced driving and suddenly we were in Brighton!
