Don't worry, nobody is getting access to anybody's account, it's simply that text which is needing to catch up.

They have just implemented a massive change over the weekend which should solve PH's server problems (and first glances is that it has done so) and it is a carry over from that.

I have said all this as a complete non-knower, and so any technical wrongness is not intentional.

Tony is correct, it is not actually logging you in as that person, it is just showing the wrong page.

I'm working on this a the moment to try and narrow down the cause, but I can't seem to make it do it at this end which is slowing down the process.

We had a similar problem recently with exactly the same manifestation. Our Squid reverse proxies were not serving a cached copy but we found that some proxies within a major client of ours were set to super-aggressive caching and the only way we could stop them serving up a cached copy was to put a pragma: no-cache on the pages - but clearly this isn't going to help in this case.

Are you attempting user-level caching? If so I can ask for some input from our ops guys who have done a lot of work on this recently (albeit LAMP rather than IIS).

We haven't implemented any user-level caching across the site, the main caching was done for the classifeds and we tried to keep the forums alone. We are going to try the pragma: no-cache across the pages to see if that stops the caching further down the line.

Suspect it will help matters even if it is rather a blunt tool. Generating an Etag for each page would be another possibility but I think that is slightly less reliable. What we found is that it's an area where there appear to be no real standards. Different proxies seem to ignore or adhere to the settings passed with the page rather at random.
