last september I attended the International Charity Classic Car Show held here on the Isle of Wight, and out of well over 300 + cars, my Griff was the only TVR present, but probably drew more admirers than most other cars on show, so this year would like to see if some of you guys and gals might like to pop over and increase the numbers!

the event is taking place on saturday 13th and sunday 14th september, on the saturday the show is held in Newport, and on the sunday it is held on Ryde seafront, which is probably the best venue out of the two.entry is free, just turn up and show your pride and joy, and make a donation if you wish to to the charity collectors.

the car ferry company, Wightlink is also sponsering the event and offer reduced prices for the weekend crossings,
http://www.wightlink.co.uk/events/classiccarshow/i...

details of last years event can be found here, http://www.iwight.com/home/news/2007/september/car...

and pics of the island can be found here,

http://www.isleofwightpictures.co.uk/index.html

it could make a good weekend break, drive around, enjoy the views and local pubs ect.

if anyone needs anymore info drop me a line.

Big Al.

I think the Isle of wight TVR club should attend...
count me if it happens in should we meet before??? Or hold the met there

Saw my first "live" Cerbera there in 05 which made me buy...

norbert and dnb have you sorted the earplugs and the maxi cosy out, yet???

Popped it in the Diary. Missus never been to IOW, so could be persuaded.

Anyone got any experience of IOW ferry ramps?

Red funnel usually more helpful and friendly then Wightlink (also poss cheaper if you book in advance)

With the Cerbien you need to go in the lower deck (just tell them on checkin - never had problems) I usually got  when I rolled in with the Cerb

on Wightlink to Portsmouth also never go up on St Claire (but they may be more difficult to persuade on busier times- I once had an argument ending in my beeing held up and only allowed last in WcensoredR)

The ferries with Mezzanine decks can usually pul you up and the kerb is managable but if in doubt ask to saty on lower level (and avoid low tide crossings...)

claire is very nicehehe

if you look at the links, wightlink are doing special offers for this show, they are normally cheaper, and I have had no problems going on any of the ferries with them in my griff, either top of bottom deck, but if you ask they have always been helpful, its only a 40minute crossing with them as well, red funnel being 1hour.
will contact you nearer the time if you are interested, but don`t leave it to late to book a ferry, they can get very busy.
can also sort out some links to hotels ect if needed.

Thats when you try to do two things at once...hehe
what I meant that when I had the Cerby (longer wheelbase than the Griff, Clive) they made me go up on the Ramp of the St Clare (Wightlink's flagship- maybe a bit heavy to go down under her.... rofl) and I beached it on one of the corners (it is built like a multistory carpark inside, nearly toasted the clutch trying to come off, when I used the ship again later they wanted to send me up there again and when I told the chap what has been happening he was less then helpful as mentioned quoting ... you do not have to go there if your car does not fit...- when I mentioned I did (cos I live there) he made me wait until everybody else was boarded (on the edge of the loading bridge)
Hence I avoid them like the plague, as I live in Cowes the 10 min difference (45 vs 55 min) does not matter to me.
But I wanted to say the St Clare is the only Wightlink ship whit this particular setup, hence my quote the "others"
sorry for the confusion, glad they treat you better

The Griff fits up on St Claire, but since the noise was so incredible they may ask that no-one does that again... (4000 RPM with no silencers in a confined metal box just had to be tried)

No ear plugs yet, but the maxi-cosi fits in the Griff. smile I'm not really sure who's the noisier.wink

Should be along to the show anyway.

Sadly, cannot make it, and the Missus had agreed in principlefurious

We have our village Fete second Saturday of September, at which we both actively help out (she brings the money in, and I dish it out - at the beer tent) She is not of a mind to let anyone down unfortunately so that's that.

Maybe next year (if not on second Saturday of September!)

Have a good one everybody, and post some pics up when you return.

Clive, did you realise the subject of your thread is asking for one TVR to attend:-

TVR's needed = TVR is needed

Lose the apostrophe to make it plural:-

TVRs needed

Anyway, lesson over, good luck with the search! smile
