there is a noticeable sound difference between a viper with headers and one with not, more so on pre-1999 cars where the headers weren't tubular

Hi Markus
Please do keep us posted about Le Mans classic 2010. It would be fantastic to have a proper viper prescence there particularly if we are then able to drive the circuit. I'm sure the Brits would be able to contribute some cars

they wont give the same sound as a set of Belangers (i have those to) but the tubular stock headers (1999-02) are a vast improvement over the old cast pre 1999 headers, and a lot lighter to boot

if you get bigvipers headers youll also need some new gaskets

Leatherman, Neil is spot on. Baz fitted my Gen II headers, and a random tec hi-flo cat back system, with a corsa back end (rear exit). The difference in sound & +hp was very noticable. You'll need to get a flexible adaptor pipe thing (technical term) to run from the headers into the cat back, so maybe give Baz or the Wizard a shout & they'll tell you everything you'll need. I got mine from Chuck. I also took the opportunity to have new head gaskets and silicon hoses fitted whilst it was all stripped down, just to be on the safe side- something else to check & consider if the work hasn't already been done too....

Marcus, if you don't get a reply, contact Guillaume via glemetayer@peter.fr & he'll pass on your request to whoever is dealing with it all - just as soon as they all get back from a holiday. I'd suggest sending an email to start with, and then follow it up with a call 2 weeks later (+33 1 42 59 73 40). The cost this year was £84 per car for 3 laps.

Mopar race sidepipe exhaust 3" at partial load (crying very loud at WOT, but can be driven something like quietly when you just keep gas). This exhaust is on my 00 ACR with of course Gen2 engine:

3" headers only - very funny in the city (same car):

3" Corsa Catback exhaust, racing 100's catalytics and stock headers on my 01 RT/10 Gen2. Engine was cold. Slow the sound a little in your mind and make the plops a little more ploppy and you have the actual sound when the engines warm. I really like this sound for a sporting cruising car, as it is more relaxed than a yelling side exhaust:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=99tZTaKGNLs

I think Ive read, you already ordered an exhaust, but maybe these impressions are interesting to you. In the end, you can modify several things to make the sound go in the direction of your desire. You can use perforated sheet absorbers to make it more flannelly and some other things.
In my opinion, the best and purest sound modifications are still done in the engine internals.

Cheers,

Yep,

Thats my exhaust system, expertly fitted by VIPER.

I would like to hear my exhaust as well, only ever hear it from inside the car!!

It is certainly louder, with a significant performance boost. It should also have made the car exhaust a little cooler, I will put that to the test during the winter when I will fit fibreglass cills supplied by Colin and hopefully get rid of the cill corrosion problem that haunts all Gen 1 RT10's, or the new cills will melt.........?

What I absolutely love is the way that the exhaust spits back at 1500 rpm when you are slowing down. That noise, even from inside the cabin, is just wonderful.

You can wait and hear it at some point or just buy it. You brought the same hardtop as I have from Bif, based on our conversation, I think you are very happy with it. Trust me, you will also love the Roe exhaust.
Has anyone got info on where to get hold of fibreglass sills ?
Would like a pair of fresh ones just to get rid of the aluminium and bubbling paint problem.

Question for VIPER

Baz, when you changed to fiberglass, I presume on Bling, what did you do with the exhausts?

Did you wrap them with something? Do you remeber what it was?

Shouldn't you just swap over the heat shields from the old ones ?

Hi Andy,

No idea, when I spoke to Colin about this he said he thought that Baz wrapped his exhausts, hence the question.

I am sure VIPER or someone will be along shortly to offer advice.bow

consensus on VCA is definitely don't put any unoriginal wrap around the exhaust or in the sill

1 of many relevant threads
http://forums.viperclub.org/rt-10-gts-discussions/...

wrap would cause temp inside exhaust to increase above that designed for. one outcome would be much quicker cat deterioration.

BIG difference!
---
2002 RT/10 with HF cats and Corsa...deep rumble - love(d) it!
2002 FE GTS with headers and HF cats and Corsa = much much louder rumble (better!)
