Really cool,

For god's sake be careful, I'm sure you're a more than capable driver as I am however haven written off our Exige S last Saturday (20/12/2008) and the end result isn't pretty

The Exige is very lively in damp cold wet conditions, I'd strongly suggest some driver training up at Hethel

Take care and enjoy

aceofspades ~ I would come on the 4th if the vro wasn't so lazy and took the whole of Christmas/New Year off. But they are and it's impossible to do, in fact if i am lucky it will be done the 5th and that's because a dealer is helping me out. If it was me privatly trying to register it i wouldn't say it would be on the road till after the 15th! eek

The headunit was fitted by Castle Lotus. It's the only one they or i could find which will fit the elise/exiges. Simply because as you know the ones with the screens don't clear the dashboard! It's a great unit actually with no sat nav disc required. Everythings stored on Hd and you can copy all your cd's to the hard drive too. You can fiddle all you like at Otd4 smile

MJK 24 ~ No midnigt drives is fine! It's being stored with a dealer smile But this day week please god i'll be out in it!!!

Boggy ~ That's st about the Exige, if you don't mind me asking what happened as i know your well used to loti and also a good driver? frown I have no actually driven an Exige yet, how would you compare them with the 111R? I hope everyone was ok as that the most important thing. Plus the fact it's always damp conditions in Ireland wink I've had quite a bit of driver training in the uk with the other cars but i was always 100% confident in the 111R i felt it held everything and never took your head off if you made a mistake.

Can't go into too much detail as I was knocked out during the Crash. Basically as far as I can remember the rear end of the car stepped out (Wet leaves etc) I managed to correct it but it then over steered to much the over way, I tried again but we must have clipped the curb, we were then sent spinning into the other carriage way then hit the other curb on the opposite side of the road, the Exige then just took off. We hit a road sign (12 ft poles) and I must have been knocked out during this collision.

I don't think anyone could have done anything different to prevent it but the Exige like the Elise is a light mid engine car which is fairly skittish in these conditions, I've owned 3 other Lotus Elises and they were the same, bad luck I suppose

We're probably going to buy a Cayman S now, we've got another Elise which we was going to use in the Trophy but I'm going to put that on hold. Not a great end to the year

lick lovely exige in a great colour, congrats.

o/t

Sorry to hear your news boggy. Its just one of those things, so long as you are all ok, its only a car. I hope everything goes ok with the payout.

I don't think anyone can imagine how fast they can get away from you if you hit ice/diesel/leaves.

I hit some diesel on the exit of a round about once doing about 40. It went round so fast there was nothing I could have done. There was no signals, just as soon as the weight transferred, BAM, straight out to angle of un-recoverable degrees. Luckily the only damage was to my underpants and marital relationship arguehehe.

Go steady out there.

That sounds really nasty frown Sorry to hear boggy. Like rpm says though sometimes there's just nothing to be done to save it. At least everyone was ok and the car is replaceable. Hope everything works out for you and let me know what the cayman's like. Never really been a porsche fan but the cayman does look great smile

Stu - bloody bad luck mate frown Let's hope 2009 is better eh? Probably best in another thread, though I doubt you want to be reminded of it - took me a few weeks to get over losing my VXT...

Funky - beautiful car smile Still not sure about the different shades of green inside but as you say, if it's hard to photograph then so be it. Lairy colours really are good on the S2 Exige, I've got a solar yellow one and I love it smile

Boggy - sorry to hear that...sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse and fortunately cars are replaceable...

Have to say having had my Exige S for 6 months (coming from a 996) and this being my first winter with it, i am driving fairly gingerly - even around town. Although i did think it was more than a little ironic getting stopped by the boys in blue on parliament square in london town under Section 44 ( terrorism act) for adhering to the speed limit. Suspect they just wanted a closer look!

Funky - love the brave choice of colour, looks cool...u will have loads of fun im sure once its registered, i havent actually gotten round to driving my 996 since the Exige arrived and apart from the lack of rear visibility i love the car & cant wait to track it!

Been reading this forum quite avidly for about 12 months now (moving across from a certain german forum on ph) - prior to the exige purchase and i have to say whilst i dont post often, ive found it invaluable on many levels both technically and anecdotically. So thanks a lot chaps & chapess's and all the best for 2009.

Nothing yet (bar a time waster) - not to worry, it means I'm "forced" into driving it. A rare pleasure these days biggrin

Thanks all! Yea the next few days are going to be agony! wink

It's really amazing seeing it being done from scratch. With my first Elise i didn't realise exactly how much detail you could go int speccing it. I also specced my tvr like this however it never made it out of the factory (the one i bought was off new from a forecourt in the end) So it was really great getting a chance to do this with the Exige. Makes it rather special to me to say the least nuts

I've seen pictures of your garage before on some other forums!!! You've got a lambo and sagaris in there as well? Or maybe you've replaced the saggy with this Exige?
That's right wink Sagaris is still here, if it wasnt for the import taxes i had to pay to get it into Ireland i would have sold it but with the price paid and how rare they are i've decided it's best to keep it long term!
I've seen your garage before also on a thread about who has the best garage, hope the Diablo still gets regular exercise with all the new arrivals?

Hi Boggy

Sorry to hear about your crash. I fear I was awfully close to doing the same as you the other day on a rather cold evening.

I came off a roundabout and gave her a bit too much power on a very slippy /gritted surface. The back end stepped out so I steered into it but as you did I over corrected and ended up oversteering the other way. I fishtailed a number of times but finally got the speed down enough to control the car.

I run on R888 on the 111S S2 with a geo similar to the 135R. I've never experienced much over steer in the Lotus as it usually understeers. All I can say is that when it does break away, it is not the most forgiving of cars ;-) Short wheel base is part of the reason.

I'm now starting to think an Exige with a limited slip and traction control would be nice...lol!

Of course! Had an elise until about 2 months ago and the tvr also before the diablo. Make quite a bit of time for it, how could you not nuts

Surprisingly there's quite alot. There was a dealer from 2004-2008 so that pushed the numbers up a fair bit!
