Ed (Dodie&Doyle) was at Marham in his BMW 2002 and did this thread on another forum - His threads and pics are always better than mine anyway - with his permission I've copied it to here.... (this may mean that the formating is a bit squiffy so sorry for that)

[Quote]O/T but, BC is your roll cage based on the design of Joe Ellis's? they look remarkably similar in places.

anyway, lets rescue this with a few pics. you know me, I don't just post a couple biggrin

this made me chuckle. no light masks at all?!?! looks like snata claus biggrin

ultima 8-) followed me in, drove very gentlemanly too.

beast! very jealous of BC bagging the shotgun seat in this. never seen anyone drop stuff and run like that unless theres a fire over their petrol tank; except for BC when he got the offer of a ride in this mental lotus carlton biggrin

never mind nurburgring stickers, this is for the hardcore redface 8-) on the lotus carlton above

raspy little ax looked to have more potential than it gave. quicker than me tho frown

just "OOOFF!!" in motion

mayhem on track biggrin

g40 outpaced loads of stuff twice its capacity coming out of the corners 8-)

remember the woman driving the cobra vid? this is a woman (someone told me so, never saw the owner without lid so can't actually confirm) driving this cobra, rather bloody well too.

parade of cool stuff through the complex by the pits

sumbeam was searingly fast! see the end of my youtube vid for proof

here he is having his tyres changed (ATS man donated his free time, skills and all money to the make a wish foundation, the charity the trackday is run for). check the brakes!

better veiw. can you say serious stoppers?! well maybe not three times fast.

the other e30 m3. very lovely and no slouch either 8-)

wooh, trackday 205. are you watching closely, Adam? biggrin

who overtook who? I'll leave you to guess, because I don't know ;D

tuned 328i smoking like dot cotton.

mr2 mk2 turbo sounded like a truck because the turbo was so huuuge.

no idea if that is expensive but it looks it. very potent on the track, its in the mr2 above

got a passenger ride in this luego v8. F$$$ ME! I loved it 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) seriously chooned rover v8 manual on mapped efi, 700 odd kilos and killer brakes. my first time ever in an open top car, road or track! gimme another go! biggrin

my face on the luego headlight

porsche broke down unfortunatly frown the thing flaming flies on track! such a shame.

stuart "i've got more tyres than litres of oil in my engine" granger. think he shredded 9 tyres on the day, one cv joint boot, a complete brake fluid change, copious ammounts of gearbox fluid and at least 2 litres of engine oil. rock on 8-)

hmmmm, might need a new tyre on there, mate biggrin one of Mr. grangers.

firenza was an original seventies sihloutte racer with a slant four, then trackday warior in the nineties/2000's with a red top turbo, now trackday special with chevy small block.

gilbern was cossie 24v motored with mapped efi 8-)

2 more. chap asked if i'd ever seen one before, i've seen plenty, but cheekily answered, "yes, I saw them on the april trackday"

MGA mk2 1600 was poetry in motion to see on the track, a true sight of splendour 8-)

sprog eye'd fright on wiiide steels. just needs a roof rack for that RR suggestion box special. "stick, banded steels and a roofrack" biggrin

midget was a casualty of the day, diff was knocking in the second session, lasted untill the last hour before in detonated on the track frown

art for arts sake. MG bumper in the grass made a good focal point.

our trackday hero 8-) loved it except for overheating, at least I now know what to focus my attention on. engine was spot on as was gearing and brakes, suspensions a bit high (LOL) and it leans plus it needs an oil cooler. wonder if anyone photo'd it on track?

reprezentin' in effect! ;D

oooh, GT version. no air filter tho redface geuss he's got a cheap supply of s50 engine then.......

another one, I know. but the colour/colour wheel combo works well

  • wibble*

uber lovely monza 8-)

sweet gsi! 8-)

newest car there, with most girly driver bar the cobra driver, lOL!

g40 and vr6 rado

"DK"? drift king?

205 was a right little flyer

I'm not a modern rice person, but this is very nice

O RLY? ;D

I had enourmous fun at this event, the 4th time i've been now & in the 4th different car too. This time i went in my Monza 3.0E S (the light blue one) and i fully admit to being one of the "drifters", even if my drifting wasn't that good at times!!

Just ask Jim if you can have a high res version by email - not sure how much pacebook tolerates hot linking!!

Yeah we were up on the sanga and had a great view. I've got quite a few vids of 'drifters' that i'll post up when i work out how to drift. Was a good laugh seeing you all flying off but i'm hoping no one did any damage. The lad in the blue 'drift' motor definately had to be one of the lads favourites followed by the Veilside kitted black Supra. Great day!!!

Point taken though about a separate "drifting area", and I'll mention it to see if they want to take it up in the future.
Thought about this in the past, but believe it or not we don't have the room. We have 400m exclusion zones around 2 bomb dumps that specifically exclude cars for social events; I cannot put the track any further south than the runway. Were it not for their re-location, we would still be using the old circuit.

Sorry guys

Many thanks to Keith, his crew and glamourous assistants. A brilliant weekend was had by all.

We only made the Sunday, but had a ball hooning around the track.

Looks like from the pics and footage seen that our stealth pink and black Saabs managed to avoid capture.

that's always the case. never any recognition for keeping it fast'n'tidy.

I managed to put in over 150 miles of track time on sunday in the Senator, yet don't even appear in many of the Autobahnstormers photos.

that didn't marr the enjoyment one bit though.

I'm guessing that the black Saab wasn't standard ??

http://www.retro-rides.com/

Sept 2007 thread -Clicky

April 2007 thread - Clicky

Ed was a guest of the ABS along with a few others who have been before - the event was not allowed to be cross posted on other forums and the ABS forum is not a public forum so non members can't sign up for Marham there.

The Retrorides forum has a few ABS members on it anyway

His thread from April 2007 is linked in the post - he always writes a nice review of things he does and his pics always have a different slant

Damn those links took some editing to get right!!!

Thanks for posting the photos, it's great to see some in advance of the official CD/DVD. Some nice ones of our MG and Frogeye classics there, and the arty shots with the bumper in the foreground - the removal of those probably saved about 50kg, giving an already seriously tweaked Midget (has the original Triumph 1500 engine, but DIY-converted to EFi) much less to haul around. The overtaking manoeuvre was of the green Midget by the Frogeye (so he was sort of within the rules on the outside exiting the corner, unlike when he had one minor red mist moment diving up the inside on the other side of the track.... Both of those have breathed on engines, taller diffs and 5-speed boxes, which is why they are unhealthily quick compared to standard spec cars.

Thank you so much for the description of my MGA as "MGA mk2 1600 was poetry in motion to see on the track, a true sight of splendour" - brings a lump in the throat to read that! It was enormous fun driving it in my best "spirited" fashion and I am glad it gave pleasure to others to see it too - she is pretty standard bar a chunky anti-roll bar, polybushed front suspension, a gas-flowed head, conversion to an early MGB close ratio overdrive gearbox and a decent exhaust system, but she picks up her skirts and hustles along quite well for a 46-year old! Anyone got any pictures of her on the track?

No probs Mark - I asked before cross posting and Ed had no problems with sharing the pics

Only minor mods

Ferrodo DS2500 Brake pads
Poly bushes
Front Strut Brace
Koni adjustable dampers
Jamex springs (15mm lower)
25mm anti roll bars (from 19mm)
3" Mandrel bent exhaust
Larger intake pipe
Tweaked ECU (+65bhp, +70lbft to 290bhp, 330lbft)
Limited Slip Diff.

Think that's it.

Andrew.

Scott,

It's a nice job that Bob has done on it - 15mm copper tubing, Rover 214 injectors, one-off aluminium inlet manifold, throttle body (from a Ford I think). I'm not sure of the ECU make, it may even be an aftermarket one as Bob was downloading data and re-progamming it on the spot with his laptop.

thumbup Nice one! That's made my day. It's such an ace car to drive.

The Ferrari was in group B so I didn't see how he was driving. Was he a bit too cautious? I certainly did my best effort at driving the track in my tail happy Cobra anyway & let all you naughty hooligans past hehe as often as I could! The car tops out at 125mph from being oddly shaped but that right hand corner always came up pretty fast everytime. I'll get it spot on some day. spin
