Perhaps the BiB are like the rest of us, interested in the various cars that will be coming....I mean, who doesn't want to see a SEAT? haha

Or perhaps we can stand on the top of the cop cars in order to get better angled shots?

lol

On a serious note, isn't there some law about travelling in a group, more than 2 cars or something?

There is a by-law or something in Nottinghamshire that says you can't have a convoy or more than 5 cars I think. But they have to serve you with a written copy of the order first and if you are caught a second time you can be arrested and prosecuted.

I have heard from a Chief Inspector friend of mine in Northampton that the BiB have heard we are meeting, have no problem with us but might put in an interested appearance at 15a. So no general sillyness please ! teacher
yes A good thing this.
Very important that everyone keeps it calm & doesn't do anything silly. We've seen so many times how an idiot or two have almost ruined the whole thing for everybody with speeding through the villages and with risky overtaking !

Don't want to put anyone off, but if you are out for a real Blat this might not quite suit !! - With this many cars it may well be a bit of a procession !
Agree completely. Seen what happens when people act silly and it ain't pretty. Let the BiB come and admire the cracking selection of cars without any problems.

I thought that was just the law in general that you aren't allowed to drive in a convoy? obviously we're not doing that, we just all happen to be driving to the same place wink

Contrary to what a drunken man said in the Picture/Pistonheads pub last night:

Darren and I are not going to Silverstone after the run. I always said we would leave after the services as I want to get to Silverstone long before the race starts.

He also owes me a car wash.

I think there was something about it being illegal if it is an officially organised event with entry fees and everything.

As we are not paying an entry fee (and we are sensible as everyone says) we should be fine.

"Motorised events are defined as those in which more than 12
vehicles take part. Under the Motor Vehicles (Competitions and Trials) Regulations 1969, events involving no more than 12 vehicles are automatically authorised by the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (RACMSA).

Organisers of events of any size should ensure that they are acquainted with the terms of the legislation prior to running any event for cars or motorcycles on the public highway."

MSA guidelines here
http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/msa_forms/comps...

"The type of events which are authorised automatically, and do not therefore need specific authorisation through the CAO are listed here.
[]
b) An event on which no merit is attached to completing the event with the lowest mileage, and in which as respects such part of the event is held on the Public Highway, there are no performance tests and no route, and competitors are not timed or required to visit the same places, except that they may be required to finish at the same place by a specified time."

We are therefore automatically authorised and hence do not need to notify anyone. It does however recommend that you advise the police of the event.

I wouldn't give the BiB's attention a moments thought other than as a gentle reminder that there are various motoring laws that should be adhered to at all times. My understanding is that they are/might be undertaking a bit of community policing and taking the opportunity to look at some nice shiny sports cars at the same time.

None of these things are bad things from our point of view as anyone who wants to behave like a d*ck (that's dick, not duck, just to avoid any confusion) is likely to stay away and therefore not give us law abiding chaps and chapesses a bad name, which would almost certainly spoil it for us the next time.

readit Lecture over !

We should just use the calendar and have separate events for each start point. Easy!
