Well, what can I say?
Very nice car, seems really together and I immediately felt totally at ease in her. Huge history file and lots of recent work done.
I was expecting a V8 TVR, especially a tuned one to be very lairy and I was fairly apprehensive as I slid behind the wheel. Happily, all those worries melted away - the car is just so tractable and easy to control. I gave it the full beans through a few tunnels
but didn't give it any stick in the bends (concious that it's not mine) but Dickie gave it a some stick and it felt very planted.I just want to find someone to have a look at it and I may well be making an offer

Slightly concious that I should look at some others before making a decision

Anyone else bought the first one they looked at?
Oh, and I got a blast in the Tam to boot
If you look at this Dickie, Glad you like it. I nearly made an offer on a Griff (the very cheap one on TVRCC) at the weekend, the first I'd seen. Very glad I didn't because having seen a couple of others over the weekend there was something obviously wrong with it. I think I'm almost certainly going to go for a Chimaera because at the moment I can't justify the extra outlay just for the aesthetics of the Griff.

Get a wedge
You shouldnt really buy the first one you see as in many cases the TVR goggles usually cover important things!!
The great thing about the wedge is that pretty much everything (apart from the rear brakes
) are easy to fix so you cant go too far wrong...
Just make sure that the chassis is solid all along the outriggers, but again they can be fixed so not the end of the world but expensive!!
The first one i went to see was a 390, the owner changed his mind and decided he couldnt sell her!!!Went for a drive and fell in love!
The second wedge i went to see i almost bought, and thank god i didnt! Looking back it was an ABSOLUTE shed. I only didnt because i was fixed on seeing a 400...
And then i bought mine! She was a potential disaster, been sat in a central heated garage for 4-5 years without moving and needing various bits of work but after a full check over i bought her and havent looked back!! Ive spent a lot of money and put lots of time in but shes lovely!
Just make sure you get the 'right feeling' when you speak to the owner!
You wont regret a wedge!!
PS-if you want to come and look around mine your more than welcome!!!!
EDITED TO SAY - Kylie....yummy!

Mine was the second one I looked at - in a way I wish I'd bought the tattier 390SE I looked at first, but then my first year of Wedge ownership could have been a lot different to the faultless one I have had with the 350i...
The 350SE you've looked at has a lot of the boxes ticked. Very good history (very important I think) and the MOT is new (should mean the outriggers are good for another year at least!) and the mods carried out are sensible and are what a lot of wedge ownwers would do anyway. Have a serious think about this one!
But if you wanted to 'get a feel for the wedge', in the classifieds there are 2 400SEs, a 390SE and a 350i for sale in Kent you could look at too...

Yep.
but didn't give it any stick in the bends (concious that it's not mine) but Dickie gave it a some stick and it felt very planted. This was my reaction when I first saw them too. The first car I looked at was a wedge and it rode extremely well and, like you say, seemed very planted with the owner (and fellow PHer) behind the wheel.
After buying my S it took a few days to relax a little and realise that it is, in fact, one of the best handling cars I've driven. The torque and the engine braking have the potential to get you into trouble if you're stupid, but driven smoothly and progressively it's one of the easiest cars I've come across to 'make progress' in.

Going to look at another one later in the week, a 350 with a 3.9 fitted. Plus I'd really like to see a 400SE but there are none in my price range on the classifieds at the moment.
Is anyone in kent willing to take a look over my final choice? In return for beer and a pie of course
Have you thought about a 390SE?Is anyone in kent willing to take a look over my final choice? In return for beer and a pie of course

Basically the same engine, but slightly different bodywork and interior
This one has 400SE bodywork with 350/390 interior and looks smashing
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/443474.htm
Even the SEAC spoiler suits it
Depending on what the budget is, this looks to be a cheap motor and surely worth looking at

How the hell have I missed that?

Not sure about the colour of the other one, doesn't look bold enough for the shape somehow...
