got a griff 500 had a seat leon....

leon would be EASIER for me to a quick start tc, etc. skill of driver... but the griff would be all over it and away in 50 metres...

rolling start ie real road conditions, leon small dot in rear view mirror...

just have a drive in any tvr, and then compare.. you WILL notice the difference.

Dont get me wrong im a BIG TVR fan, living in Blackpool and all,and if they werent so unreliable id probably have one myself, but, they might as well have a Rover badge on the front of them there that bad.
All the clip shows is a 4.2ltr 400bhp super/kit car being wasted off the line by a 1.8ltr production hatchback,if that ruffles "slowers" feathers then tough, but facts are facts,TVR,s look great, sound great but are a RUBBISH car, there are now and they always have been, there a kit car trying to be a mass produced supercar, which, there just not!!
I've done fwd hot hatches and by all accounts, a faster one than a LCR.... Dont even kid yourself that they come close to TVR's.

From memory, not many kit car builders go to the effort of producing their own engines either.

Just out of interest, how is the TVR a RUBBISH car?

C2HYM is right. I've gone from a REVO'd LCR to a T350, and there's no comparison. Leon's are very, very good for their price, and can hold their own against a lot of 'performance' saloons. Realistically, though, they aren't in the same league as a modern TVR.

Kind of sorry I defended you a couple of pages back now!

I admit I got you confused with the other Seat (you know, the fast one!), but I thought the spirit inherent at Fighting Torque was a bit more grown up than "my car's better than yours..." - ho hum!

FWIW, my mate just got rid of his Cupra R because its' clutch exploded after 12000 miles; does that mean they're all unreliable, rubbish heaps?!?

We dint take the Seat down to fighting torque with any expectations of beating ANYTHING,admittadly its been stripped out and putting down 280bhp so running on 4x18" goodyear eagles makes it seriously quick for a FWD hatchback but its hardly in the same class as a TVR,porche, noble or owt else that was there,it was just a nice supprise to see how much quicker it was off the line against a lot of other stuff that was there.
For any petrol head the day is well recomended to all,but personally speaking
i dont think anyone could criticize and 280bhp Cupra R or a 330bhp MR2,both cars of which, would be able quite comfortably hold there own against most other cars on the road over 1/4mile,and that includes TVR,s.

You got lucky mate...
Yes a 280bhp hatch is qoing to be quick, but it is no way on the same level of straight line performance as a Cerb smash

Why confused?, TVR are lighter than production cars, I think they used less glue and and bolts to save weight, Tuscan around 300kg lighter than a 430 no?

A TVR is a production car- not a Kit car.
I would probably say the tuscan is lighter due to the fact its made of GF & its a smaller car.

When I say production cars, I mean cars compromised for sale world wide, all the air bags, sound deadening and extra crash protection stuff to get afew ncap stars. But anyway the TVRs are alot lighter and should shift a bit, otherwise why would anyone buy one?

Fortunately not all production cars are compromised. If you mean lighter cars why not just say so?

I did, TVR is playing to different rules to supercar makers, lightness is not high on the agenda its the only thing on it.

So race bred, in house built engines don't count then obviously. I think the weight is a large factor with TVRs but how can you say it isn't with the likes of Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche et al, if it wasn't we wouldn't have cars like the F360cs, Superleggera, 964RS and GT3.

eta, with regards to playing by a different set of rules to other supercars, yes they were, they had a far more limited budget.

The 360cs is listed as 1280kg, the GallardoSL at 1420kg and gt3 at 1395kg still alot heavier than say an equivalent Sagaris at 1078kg(quoting EVO), the crash protection and airbags remain otherwise they would restrict there market, mostly there goal is to make it look a bit more racery.
