Just how fast are SEACs?
Discussion
David,
I could refer you to numerous other "discussions" we have had on various threads , and they all come back to the basic facts . At no time have I ever said that 668 is not a SEAC , what I have done , is apply the standards that you and others applied to the debateable car to 668 , to prove a point . That point being that there is no definitive history , due to TVR not keeping accurate records at that time ( If indeed they ever did !)
So , with my earlier statement :
"However , per Chris Schirle at the original BBWF , 668 was a 390 pulled from production to develop the SEAC model . As such , it was not rose jointed , used an existing 390 chassis , with a 350 interior and handbrake, 390/400 exhaust , not the below the chassis pipe or suspension of what became the accepted SEAC spec, however unlike most others ( Dicky ) it is full Aramid "
By what standards do you define a SEAC?
My argument was, and always has been that 668 was a development car which became accepted as a SEAC as it was the press car , but it is still a 390 chassis with posh clothes and a tweaked engine . Now that is a statement of fact, a situation which is close to my heart

No problem , some people will not acknowledge what it is .
for the ignorant and blissfully unaware, why dont you share your knowledge with us lowly mortals sir and educate us in an accurate and thorough way, including quotes and source of said quotes
Why isnt the Red SEAC a SEAC and why was the yellow 350 with a teatray a SEAC?
Sounds like a conspiracy to me...wheres me tinfoil hat

Its a long time and many many cars ago and some cars dont spring to mind .As for 668 its got TVR on the front and SEAC on the back .So what there saying is if its not Built to the SEAC spec and so on.Look most SEAC ended up being standard GRP bodies so that means theres only a hand full of TRUE SEAC out there ,the electrics changed on a how do we fit the relay board this time and so on.Isn,t that what TVR was all about . On the bright side you,ve people running around in 4.2 cerbs with 4.5 engines fitted so welcome to the mad house as it was ,but i loved it.,
Truely great cars !! owned 2, 2 years each, owned about 40 cars over nearly 30 years and my first SEAC is the most memorable (of any car), I supplied the 5.0L engine for D***175, that is a quick car, when Sean drove it could set lap records against any other TVR at most Curcuits.
A few snippets from memory: First ever SEAC prototype was built in 1985, white body on otherwise standard 390SE C***ULL reg, then they built a run of 4 or so cars using 390 chassis and interior, they were full kevlar, then they updated the Chassis, included front main rosejoints and interior to make the car completely unique, next 5 or so cars were full kevlar, then a mixture of glass and kevlar, a few cars also had carbon fibre with glass, a few cars had full rosejoint suspension, a few cars had solid lifters, engine specs varied as did level of trim, there were so many variations and specs that almost each car is just about unique and special.
a tip: if you get the chance take a lap in the passenger seat of Jeffs Yellow racer
))))

jagdpanther , the only comment I would make is READ THE DAMN THREAD !!! I cannot make it any simpler !!
I have read the topic Neil and I have read the constant sniping which is, to be fair, pathetic! If you're not willing to back up your claims in this thread then so be it, but there is a plethora of people that would love to see your "evidence"

touch paper lit, retiring to a safe distance

Stainless Steves 450 was in classic car magazine up against a Lambo Countach. The SEAC if I remember was voted the better car.
Neil - Not sure what you mean about the full kevlar smiley. But for the record Tim Lamont believed mine to be full kevlar so did TVRCC. I have my doubts about the front spoiler or wether or not there has been any crash damage repaired in GRP. I do know that it is very much lighter than my old 350i as I've had to push them both many a time

PS. TVRCC were unclear as to the build number of mine except it was number 14 possibly 12 or 13.
Edited to add for the OP - I'm looking for the last dyno readout. From memory it was 270ish BHP. I have no doubt that with a decent tune it could reach the factory spec of 300BHP. Mine has the original unmodified NCK engine.
