. . . and for a bit of a play, see you all Monday
great just take it easy, look ahead for tree shadows over the road where water or ice may lay and leaves ect. It's all very different to your Astra
An ex-Chim owner was with me this afternoon it took him three years but he did eventually lapse in his driving ability and damaged his car, his pride and his confidence

you got your car last Friday - any words of advice about the next day's driving

all repaired and he did take three years to crash itMost crash the car within the first year of ownership, ask any insurer
Glenn's business partner crashed his 450 Chim in his first year of ownership
I've never chrashed - a TVR

Okay first day of ownership complete, 600 miles driven. It is everything I hoped and more. Off to the pub shortly for a evening of coffee and rugby then a trip through the Tyne Tunnel and some general arty shots and hoonery across the N.Yorks moors tomorrow before home.
Think i'm going to need to up the mileage limit on the insurance policy at this rate.
The noise is

Back to life...Back to reality.
I take it you have driven it to work today?
Oh yes, it isn't all that bad for doing the commute in either.I take it you have driven it to work today?
Will have used 1/4 of the miles on my policy by the time it gets over to the weekly meet on Wednesday, the Astra will need to get driven again soon i fear.

Now get back to work!
well today I added to those statistics, the ones that insurance companies go on and on about. 'most likely to have a fault accident young male under age of 25' 'most fault accidents in a TVR happen within the first year of ownership' Yes you guessed it, I stacked the Chimaera.
Coming off of a roundabout this morning on the way to drop my sister off at College the back end broke free throwing us sideways across some wet grass and into some bushes coming to rest hitting a tree. Before anyone asks, no I wasn't gunning it, the road was busy with commuters. What caused it? I guess a combination of damp slimy roads, broken up tarmac and tight exit with odd camber coupled with my inexperience of the car in those conditions.
I'm not posting this for sympathy nor for messages of 'told you so' more to share my bemusement of reactions of our fellow citizens.
As i mentioned this road was busy with commuters, and while i may have caused the car coming the other way a brown trouser moment there was no oncoming vehicle impact, there was still a fairly large flow of 'witness' vehicles that saw the incident happen. Not one of them stopped to see if we were alright. The first person to stop was almost a full 5 minutes after the incident by which time I was out of the vehicle and had contacted the emergency services (police only, neither of us had any damage other than being a bit shaken). This gentleman was great and waited with us until my dad arrived to take my sister home and then onto A+E to be checked out. The gentleman also returned to visit me after he dropped his children off at school and stayed with me for a further 10 minutes, then about 30 minutes later he arrived back with a flask of tea. In between this time I had a few other people stop, most were kind hearted and considerate, while on the other side of things I had comments like 'that'll hurt your wallet mate' and 'you're young get back in your Nova' topped with 'Serves you right you flash c
'
Today i experienced 3 sides of society. The side where people don't want to get involved, the genuine kindness and thoughtfulness to other human beings and the people who just want to get their word in.
So on the off chance that they may be reading this. The gentleman who stopped 3 times and provided me with tea while i waited. My heartfelt thank you goes out to you.
And to the lad who took the time to stop his Peugeot and shout at me 'serves you right you flash c
' I hope one day that you are faced with your mirror self in a similar situation.
My sister has been given the all clear by docs and told she'll ache for a few days. I've damaged my pride a bit and have a sore arm and hopefully the car will be repaired. It's now on its way to Ewelme Coachworks awaiting an insurance assessment (luckily it appears all cosmetic and all the major components bar radiator are pointing in the right direction). If it doesn't then I've had the greatest possible 1500 miles in the car.
Sorry if I've rambled on a bit.
