I've found the 156 Sportwagen I'd like to buy. Unfortunately, it doesn't have factory fitted roofrails.

Is it possible to retrofit them, so I can attach roofbars when needed?

Ta.

I don't think it is very easily. The factory fit installation is holes through the roof so you'd need to take the headlining down!
You can however fit aftermarket roof bars to a Sportwagon without roofrails.

Sound cheers. If I'm completely honest- half the reason I wanted roofrails is because I think they look great on the 156 SW- they really set the cars style off nicely!

And do you know what? One of the reasons I really like the 156 and 159 Wagons is because you don't have to have roof bars like most other estates!!
biggrin
I'm really not a fan but if you like it to look like a hearse, at least you have the choice!!

Hearse, ha- I am after a black 156 too! smile

Think I'm being a bit too specific in my quest tho.. have only found one suitable car & that sold before I got to look at it!

Really want a Black 2.4JTD 156 Veloce Sportwagen with leather & roofbars. Ideally with Teledial wheels (but the can be added later!)

Might have to be a bit less fussy- there doesn't seem to be a lot of 2.4's out there!

Lovely car though, so worth waiting for!
Here's mine from a few years ago:

2.4 150bhp, Veloce, black leather Recaros, strutbrace and 17" Sports.
Favourite car I've had. Sold it to an AROC member and he loves it too!

That looks absolutely lovely!

I think I'll keep waiting until the right car comes along. Have started considering a 2.0TS but think the 2.4Jtd would be a better option really even tho it would only save me about £500 a year in fuel.

Might drop you an email when I find a suitable car- would appreciate your opinion- I've only ever bought old classic cars before!

I've recently bought two 159's: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
And was told that it's not possible to retrofit them.
Of course, that's another car.
