Why swap from a B18C to a H22A? Surely the gains aren't enough to warrant the change? And if you're whipping the engine out, why not spend it on new go faster bits for the B18?

because i the accord type r vtec pull is a propper pull than the 1.8 b18c6 even though the crx weight less. so i would like that accord type r pull in the lighter crx which will be more stronger

and the pick whith the crx with a b18c6 0 - 100 is only fast, but over 100 -155 it dies down but the h22a7 just does not stop

and putting a turbo on the b18c6
many [problems can go wrong)

Turbos only go wrong if not set up correctly or not looked after.
Check on CRX-UK there are more than a few turbos that have been going strong since put together.
Eddie/Marks B18 turbo for example.

but is it true you cant run the turbo on a standard engine, i heard you have to forge the whole engine top to bottem?

They only run properly if you know what you are doing.

Its much easyer to transplant in a H22 and get 200bhp for much less money and trouble.

I could quite easily fit a H22 into a crx as its just mechanicals and a bit of wiring and most home mechanics can do the same.
Its a much more compelx job to build a reliable B18 turbo as you really need to understand how it all works and how to get the map right.

It is better to forge the engine if going for big boost, but standard internals are pretty strong and do take boost well. I am no expert though on turbos, so if you want CRX specific information/advise on conversions, N/A builds and turbo's have a look about the CRX-UK site, it is even a clicky biggrin

As for N/A there is a chap on the site with standard internals running 183WHP on a B18C4, all in the tune. he is running Hondata i think its an s300 unit.

I never see the point of running a turbo on a high comp engine. You are restricted to low boost. IMO those that turbo the B18 and B16 may as well have started with the B20. Lower comp etc

But you don't need to whack a turbo onto the B18. Some lairy cams, bigger pistons and perhaps throttle bodies and you'll have the same, possibly more power than the Accord depending on a remap. Keeps the smaller engine in too.

Yeah, but the H22 is alot more torquey, and it feels like it has a wider useable power band.

The mk2 CRX isn't such a heavy car that it feels the need for lots oof torque. It just seems like an utterly pointless engine swap.

Mk2 CRXs are better deserving of stiffening and lightening than of silly power increases, anyway.
